Summary: Suspense and great characters make this a winner
Review: This is a gripping story with great characters-and one of the greatest characters of all is the city of Detroit. The city, in all its promise and sadness, comes alive in this thriller that catches Naomi Wells, corporate lawyer, between a rock and a tight spot.

Naomi has built her professional life as corporate lawyer to Surgico, a drug company in Ann Arbor, Michigan. But when Surgico's mind-altering drugs end up on the streets of Detroit and young people begin to die, her loyalties are sorely tested. She must find a way to stop the drug leak without compromising her professional obligations to the firm. At the same time, she must cross the rifts that separate her from her lover, Bryce, and her best friend, Synka. (Synka is a gem!) The plot is tight and fast, but it's the author's way with people-Bryce with his secret problems, Synka with her anger and Naomi with her conflicted loyalties-that make this book one of my all-time favorites.

Summary: Great Read!
Review: I LOVE mysteries - and this is a really good one! I couldn't put it down. The characters jump off the page - and some of them are truly frightening. Watch out for Mailman! I emailed the author who said she is working on a sequel - CAN'T WAIT! Portia Toples rates right up with Dick Francis and Walter Mosley as far as I'm concerned. Enjoy!
