Summary: Cornball
Review: I am a new reader of John Martel's books and after finishing this one I went on-line immediately to order his others. If they are only half as good, they will provide an excellent read.

The story is fast paced, the characters multidimensional and strong but not to the point of being unbelievably clever or tough when confronted by the system.

This was the first book in a long time that kept me up through creeping tiredness because I wanted to reach some plateau in the plot before putting it down. This book had no plateaus. It was a roller coaster ride between events that you have to see to the end, only to find yourself riding up the incline again.

An overall good story.

Summary: Martel Is Terrific!! Buy This Book!!
Review: I read at least several books a week and have for many years. This book snaps and crackles with action, plot twists, great characters, and a sense of urgency that grips the reader. I read the book in one sitting, cover to cover. I can't remember doing that except for Puzo's "Godfather." Martel has a real gift and I defy anyone to see the ending coming in this book. It's a real tour de force from Martel. Frankly, reading it left me limp; I don't know how he managed to write it, but even thinking about it exhausts me. A truly great read if you like legal thrillers and/or a just plain wonderful story.

Summary: Excellent read. Very true to life.
Review: This book was very real to me. From the point of view of someone who has worked in a large firm, it is very true to life. I had troubles putting it down. Great read. Looking for more.

Summary: Cornball
Review: While the action of the story moves along quickly, it comes at the expense of character development. Also, it seems to be the same story as just about every other "legal thriller." It reads like a comic book. ...
