Boyd (a WW II veteran who served as a combat infantryman in Europe), A Rendezvous With Death is a historical fiction murder mystery which set in the European battlefields of World War II. When an American soldier and a civilian woman are murdered, Second Lieutenant Charles Donnelly must ferret out the truth of who did the deed and why - yet when the trail points to one of his fellow officers, it is his own life which is in grave peril. A Rendezvous With Death is suspenseful, original, and very highly recommended reading.

Review: I read this novel with great expectations as I had already read all of Mr. Boyd's previous published works. But, did this novel surprised me! It is well researched, graciously written; the plot grabs you from the very beginning plunging you into the depth of combat experience and into the soul of every soldier of WWII. It is definitley the most gripping war novel I have read in years with the additional element of the war events being wrapped into a murder mystery.
