Rating: Summary: BOO! Sleuth Has Bad Attitude About Bullying Review: I liked this series until I read this book. Lucy's son, in the book, is one of a group of kids that bullies another child, and I really disliked the way the author had Lucy handle it, and her attitude about it...basically that it was the victim's own fault because of the way he dressed and his nerdy personality! I was outraged!! My own boys have been victims of bullies and it is not something to be taken lightly or kids being kids, and it is certainly NOT the fault of the victim. The bully is the one with the problem. It is not okay to abuse someone or treat them badly because you don't like the way they dress. I was really disappointed with both the sleuth and the author for taking this stance and promoting a very bad attitude. Kids are committing suicide in our society because of being bullied and many live in fear of going to school. I don't know many adults that would or could put up with the kind of abuse I've seen...even if it isn't active beating, just mean things like stealing someone's clothes is not funny for the victim. It's cruel.I haven't read another Lucy Stone mystery since reading this book. A big Halloween BOO! to Leslie Meier!
Rating: Summary: A Favorite Review: This is the best in the Lucy Stone series. I read it every October.
Rating: Summary: Charming, light reading. Review: This was my first Lucy Stone mystery and I found it very enjoyable. I really liked the realistic, comfortable way in which Meier introduced Lucy's home life and contrasted it with the wild antics of her mystery-solving. The supporting characters are varied and very vividly drawn. The novel also uses touches of humor to keep things from getting too dark or scary. I plan to read more of Meier's books. I hope she continues this series.

Rating: Summary: Two words for Leslie Meier: Keep writing! Review: Trick or Treat Murder is my favorite Lucy Stone mystery because of the coziness of Ticker's Cove and the real-life characters. I enjoyed this novel so much I purchased all the other Lucy Stone mysteries to say that I have a collection of good books. Because it's hard to find authors that I enjoy so much, I can say Leslie Meier is one of them. Readers who are scanning bookshelves in their hometown, pick up a copy of Leslie Meier's Lucy Stone mysteries. You will not be sorry. Trust me. Congratulations to Leslie Meier for her brilliant, authentic writing!
