Summary: Good but not great
Review: As a native of Sandersville, Georgia, the town on which the fictional town is loosely based, I did enjoy the Georgia references. My complaint with this book is that the characters are so one dimensional that you can't really get a feel for them. Troup Lazard is irredeemably evil (but you never know why) and Ben Pike is mediocre. Alex, the love interest, seems far more interested in solving the various mysteries than she does in romancing Ben Pike. I did enjoy the book and would read another by Dr. Rawlings, but I would certainly suggest fleshing out the characters a bit more in the next one.

Summary: Thrilling Southern Suspense
Review: Full of suspense and intrigue with revelations of rural Southern nuances that can only be captured by a native. Amazing fast-paced plot detail. The crafty disclosures of the inner-torture and frailties of the characters reminds me of Tennessee Williams. This book is a real "page turner" that I could not put down. Not so much of a "who-done-it", but one of "how and why". Anyone who enjoys suspense or an unveiling of the "good old boy" Southern culture will be enthralled with this one from the first page!

Review: I checked this book out at the library first, butI am definately purchasing one of my own. I work in Sandersville and have access to get the author to sign a copy for me personally. I love books about the south and mysteries, this one is great. You do know who the villain is but you can hardly put the book down waiting to find out exactly what he did and why. It really makes you wonder what people will do for love and money. Great plot and interesting characters, a really great read. Look for his second novel Fall 2004.

Review: I took this book to the beach and found that I couldn't put it down. The historical and Georgia references were so interesting. Although it was obvious early on who the villan was, one was kept in suspense about the details. I found it sheer entertainemt and a fun read.

Review: William Rawlings is a masterful storyteller in this spellbinding novel. Terror, intrigue, and suspense intertwine to engulf the reader's interest.
