Summary: This Angel Has No Wings
Review: This "Angel" really flies! Charles Tindall has written a corker of a mystery with a dark-hearted villain (Damien). It's a classic case of good vs evil, masterfully presented.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: First in the "Angel" series? I hope so!
Review: What do three young men living in Minnesota in the sixties-a preacher, a teacher, and an investigator-have in common? In the world of Charles Tindell, they form the MAC Detective Agency, and their first case is most unusual: Jodelle Hammond, the strikingly beautiful heiress of the Hammond Clothing empire, has lost her cat.

On the surface, a harmless enough case. Or so it would appear. But in true gumshoe fashion, this dame was real trouble.

Questions mount and the mystery deepens as the three rookies-Howie Cummins, Adam Trexler and Mick Brunner-follow a twisted skein of leads in an effort to separate the truth from lies. Miss Hammond hasn't lost a cat after all, but a sister. Damien, the enigmatic and loathsome "brother" of the family delivers a sick and bloody warning to drop the case. A silver chalice and the Book of Shadows wrench the story in a dark direction. And with Mick's sudden and frighteningly ominous disappearance, the detectives realize they're on the trail of an evil they fear they have little hope of defeating.

With characters you'll care about and an adversary you'll love to hate, "This Angel Has No Wings" is an impressive first novel from Charles Tindell. Using the eyes and ears of the young men of the MAC Detective Agency, he adroitly leads the reader down the dark and forbidding path of mystery to an ending that sets up delicious opportunities for future novels. This first book proves Tindell to be an author we can trust to deliver stories we can grow with. I, for one, am looking forward to more.
