It will hold your attention.
Worth reading.

Summary: Couldn't put it down!
Review: Great book - I couldn't put it down once I'd started reading.
It's good writing - to the point and no frills. And the plot is good. Mystery stories with holes in the plots annoy me a lot - but this was a good plot. Well done Timothy Hemion!

Summary: Very Nice!
Review: I had a great time reading this detective story! I enjoyed not only the puzzle plot but also the Japanese culture and sight. These three elements mix very well in the book. The story is so interesting and made me continue to the second book.

Summary: Exciting mystery book
Review: I like the way the inspector Morimoto and the officer Suzuki discuss. They are putting logical steps each of which drives me to imagine what they imagine.
Japan shares many things with Korea, for example, meal, people's attitude, or thinking process. I was exciting to see what Japan and Japanese are like written in English.

Summary: Recommended to fans of Sherlock Holmes stories
Review: I really enjoyed reading the book.
That's not because I am Japanese and the crime is set in Japan,
but because this book provides the pleasure of logical thinking.
It's interesting that the author is a mathematician.
If you are a fan of Sherlock Holmes stories like me,
you are certain to enjoy the science of deduction in this book.
The combination of two characters
--- Inspector Morimoto and a young female officer Suzuki,
who is a mathematics graduate --- is also fun.

Summary: A symmetrical mystery story
Review: I really enjoyed reading this book. The descriptions of Okayama are accurate and beautiful. They reminded me of when I lived in Okayama. The descriptions of Japanese culture and food are nice as well. And I took some of the train rides that are described in the story. I think many people will enjoy learning about Japan from this story.

Summary: A lot of fun!
Review: I've just finished reading the first three books of the Inspector Morimoto series. I enjoyed the books a lot. This first book has a good plot where you can think along and try to figure out what has happened. And I'm pleased to learn so many things about Japan. Timothy Hemion has found a great recipe for enjoyable reading. The characters introduced in this first book will grow and become more colorful in the next books.

Summary: Nice descriptions of Japan
Review: I've worked in Japan, and this book reminded me of what it's like there. It's well-written, well-organised and clever. It's an enjoyable read.

Summary: Nice description of Okayama in Japan.
Review: It is so nice to read a detective story set in Okayama which is where I live. The descriptions of Okayama are very nice and realistic. This detective story reads like the best detective stories of Japanese writers. The plot is very tricky. I had to think so hard about it. It is a wonderful book.

Summary: The Book For You!
Review: This book is a book for anyone. I enjoyed Timothy Hemion's discription of the places in Japan. It book was so exact as to the places Inspector Morimoto visited including the different train stops. I, having been to Japan learned even more from the book. It is a book for all ages and you wouldn't think it would be a book for 35 years-old guys like me!!! However, it is really a spectacular book. I enjoy how the mystery wasn't easy to figure out like most mysteries. I read a lot of mysteries and the Inspector Morimoto books are some of the best. And Even if you don't like mysteries, you will love this book!!!!
