Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: Abby Cooper is the kind of person I want to have as a friend. Not only is she a doxen lover but she has the personality that draws friends around her like a soft warm comforter, and she has this awesome gift of clairvoyance. Ms. Laurie has given her readers a wonderful gift in the persona of Ms. Cooper I highly recommend this piece of fiction that tells the truth about psychic gifts.
Rating: Summary: Great Reading, Suspense filled Review: Finally! A novel about a psychic that's believable! I'm so tired of reading about intuitives that talk like robots, portending death and doom and then fall over in a dead faint after every reading! Abby Cooper is compelling as much for her normalcy as for her giftedness. I found myself fascinated by the description of what goes on in the mind of a psychic, and Dutch is the kind of guy any woman could fall head over heels for. I also loved the fact that I never knew who the real killer was until the end....even though the clues were all there. Real life professional psychic, Victoria Laurie, weaves a web of compelling suspense, fascinating descriptions, and one fantastic sense of humor! I loved, loved, loved this book!!!!!
Rating: Summary: well written and refreshingly unique amateur sleuth Review: In Royal Oak, Michigan, Abby Cooper tries an online dating service since she hasn't had a date in years. She believes that once she proves she is a psychic, men are scared off. Her date with Dutch goes smoothly but when she tells him that the child who was abducted in the mall is dead and the mother and another close relative are the perpetrators he cuts her off. She doesn't hear from him for a week.
Abby senses she is being followed and she sees the stalker. The next day he shows her his gold shield and tells her the mother and brother is in custody. He and his partner spent the last week investigating Abby and psychics are not in his belief system. Another of Abby's client is brutally murdered; Abby feels guilty that she didn't give Allison another appointment when she requested it. Taking it upon herself, she learns her sister supposedly committed suicide shortly before her wedding but Abby's sixth sense says she was murdered by the same person who killed Allison Now she has to find out who he is and give the name to Dutch.
This is the start of a great new series due in large part to the heroine who is not afraid to use her powers to help people in crises. Up until Allison's case she never worked with the police because of their skepticism but once Dutch gets over the shock, he accepts Abby and her powers completely. The mystery is well constructed and there is plenty of action in this amateur sleuth tale but readers will love ABBY COOPER, PSYCHIC DETECTIVE because the storyline is well written and refreshingly unique.

Rating: Summary: I predict a successful series for Ms. Laurie! Review: There are many preconceptions of psychics and what they do and they are a little 'off the wall' - I was attracted to Abby Cooper, Psychic Eye because it combines many elements of excitement and gives a practical view of what a psychic is and what a psychic feels in the consequences of what they do.
Abby Cooper has integrity, and does what she can for her clients and friends, and stumbles into a murder mystery and a man (hunk) Dutch, a cop who can help unravel the clues.
As a debut novel, Ms. Laurie is smooth, entertaining and makes you look forward to her next 'reading' - (next novel) -
If you are interested in psychics, the paranormal, as well as a great mystery, pick up this book - you will enjoy it and want to browse Ms. Laurie's website -
You will enjoy all of the above and I predict you will instantly be a fan -
Keep 'em coming, Victoria!
Rating: Summary: Fun read w/ a strong female character Review: This book gave me exactly what I wanted: an entertaining story with humor, good female character, and something supernatural (e.g. a psychic). It's perfect for vacation reading or when you want something fun. While the book is basically a murder-mystery, the best parts were watching Abby use her psychic abilities and her budding romance with Dutch. The romance was very well done, delicately building up the desire between Abby and Dutch. The only semi-negative part about the book was that sometimes I could guess what was going to happen next. (Or maybe the author wanted me to experience what it's like to be psychic... sorry, bad attempt of a joke.) Nevertheless, this didn't detract from my enjoyment of the book. Sometimes "knowing what is about to happen" or the foreshadowing made the book even more exciting.
I look forward to reading more about Eggy the dog. And I think I've already dreamed of the luscious Dutch. Ahhhhh! Great characters!
