Summary: A Story to Remember
Review: "With Hope" is the best book I have read in a long time. The newest best sellers have been somewhat of a disappointment to me lately with several of my favorite writers. I decided to try reading a book written a few years back and was glad I did.

Summary: Best collection of characters I've ever read!!!
Review: Dorothy Garlock created a wonderful collection of characters in this novel based in the 1930s. The only bad thing about this book, was closing it and letting go of these characters. I've fallen in love with the main characters - Henry Ann Henry and Tom Dolan... but most of all, for her step-brother, Johnny. I so hope, as I believe the other readers will too, that Ms. Garlock will write a novel with Johnny as the main character someday. He's simply charming and easy to fall in love with.

The main characters provided a spectacular chemistry of emotion, while the world around them suffered with the hardships of the time. However, they were not completely unaffected, they did suffer as well, along with witnessing the suffering of those around them they cared about.

The one thing that Ms. Garlock did create was characters that were obviously bad... when sometimes actually there is a fine line between bad and good within a person. The story would have been even more emotional if those characters showed more of their good, along with some of their evil.

Overall, a very good book with wonderful characters, that you are sure to enjoy!

Summary: Wonderful! The Best One Yet!
Review: I loved With Hope. Dorthy Garlock is the most gifted romance writer I have yet to have the pleasure to come across. With Hope is the first one of her books I read. After Henry Ann Henry's father dies and she's left with her two rebelious step siblings Henry Ann is left with the world on her shoulders. I became so attached to her and all of the other characters in this wonderfully written book. I've read it and reread it.

Summary: Wonderful characterization makes this book sparkle!
Review: Ms. Garlock's WITH HOPE is a truly fascinating read. The prologue hooked me on page one, and I only stopped reading when I HAD to.

Henry Ann Henry sparkles--what a well-crafted character! I liked her so much I found myself wanting to read more about her when I finished the book. The setting was also well-drawn. Ms. Garlock's research into the 1930's shone through on every page. I could feel the stress and strain of the depression on nearly all the characters--particularly those on Mud Creek and on the hero, Tom Dolan.

I wholeheartedly recommend WITH HOPE. There's just enough suspense to keep the story rolling at a good pace, the romance is truly unique, and the true-to-life characters leap off the page. You won't want to put this one down!

Summary: I can hardly wait for the next book to come out
Review: The next book won't come out soon enough for me. This lady is a GREAT author. She certainly knows how to write a good book. Please hurry with the next book.

Summary: Fantastic. A refreshing departure from the usual romance.
Review: The time is 1932. The depression is gripping the country, but people in the small town of Red Rock, Oklahoma live and love and cope with the hard times. Henry Ann Henry is left a farm by her father, but her half brother and sister who are her father's children in name only want their share. Henry Ann falls in love with Tom Dolan a neighbor whose wife is mentally ill and helps him care for his small son. There are so many interesting characters in this book it hard to name them all. The description of the dance marathon, the barnstorming air show, the bookleggers, the hobos and the protrayal of life in the thirties is excellent. I highly recommend reading this book.

Summary: The Walton's plus a true romance!
Review: This book portrays the 1930's in such a real way that you will feel like you are living during that time. The story carries you into the world of the characters and you feel a part of their lives. Very graphic scenes of child abuse, mentally unstable behavior, poverty...but a great story that keeps you on the edge of your seat. I read it in one sitting...couldn't wait to see what would happen next. Book one in a trilogy. Can hardly wait for the next two!
