Rating: Summary: Pirates of the Inside Passage Review: This book proves to be rather interesting and somewhat entertaining murder-mystery. Its part of Sue Henry's Alex Jensen and Jessie Arnold series. This time around, Jessie is without any doggies to help her around, a changed of pace for her. Most of the story take place aboard a ship and the story - which proves to be somewhat unoriginal - still was well written and paced.
I thought due to the fact that it take place aboard a cruise ship, this was one of Sue Henry's lesser Alaskan atmospheric books. Tidbits of Alaskana flavors is shown but this proves to be rather a run of a mill thriller. This book is more of an Alex Jensen book with Jessie Arnold playing somewhat of a second fiddle.
Despite of this rather lackluster endorsement, I still thought that the book was a page turner and the plot ended up working out pretty well. But overall, Sue Henry readers may regard this book as one of her lesser works.
Rating: Summary: Murder on a Ship Review: While it was interesting to see Alex and Jessie interact without relating to sled dogs I found that I missed a few of the repeating characters. Notably missing was Cas and Linda (as well as the sled dogs) While the book was well written ite seemed a little long for the story that was being told. But, Sue Henry as usual did a wonderful job describing the settings and the scenery so that you not only feel like you are there but want to make sure that you get to see it first hand. I also especially loved the basic information that Jessie shared with Lou on the cameras it is nice to see Jessie do something else!
Rating: Summary: Check your geography Review: Why do reviewers insist on calling the 1898 rush one to Alaska? Not true. It was a rush to the Klondike, and that, my friends, was located in the Yukon Territory of Canada. True they passed through Skagway heading up White Pass, but the objective was Canada. The Alaska goldrush came in 1900 to the beaches of Nome.
