Rating: Summary: Tampa Truisms Review: This was a heck of a funny book. I really enjoyed reading about the Tampa people and the actual Tampa locations mentioned in the book. The book must be true as it is so accurate on the types of people found in Tampa. The book is written in a Dave Barry type of writing (also a Floridian). The situations of the strange neighbors had me in stitches and all the strange goings-ons all culminated in a way that was unpredictable. It was dark humor but if you like Monty Python situations, you will love this book. Serge was definitely my favorite character with his violent personality but basically a good neighbor to Jim. All Floridians - especially those in Tampa - must read this book.
Rating: Summary: Tim Dorsey Meets Quentin Tarantino Review: This whole series of books by Tim Dorsey can be described as a twisted and funny study on the dark side in all of human beings. Tim Dorsey manages to take everyday situations and make them incredibly funny. Based in Florida, the series follows the twisted life of Serge Storms (one of the best characters ever created) and all his sick, violent and disturbed adventures. Of course, along the way you will get to meet every kind of character you can imagine.
The interesting thing about this series is that behind all the funny stories, there are tons of social and political criticisms. I have read all the books in the series, and each one keeps getting better. If you are a fan of Quentin Tarantino movies, or South Park cartoons, you will love these books. A must buy.
Rating: Summary: triggerfish Review: Triggerfish Twist was not my usual 'type' of book to purchase. It was the most hysterical and entertaining book I have ever read. Since then, I have not only read it several more times, I have purchased every book I can find of Tim Dorsey's. It is not a book for the subject-sensitive reader but it will make you laugh and smile.
