Summary: Epic tale of an ancient warrior god
Review: Courtroom drama. Political intrigue. Treachery. Sex. Historic battles. Struggles for survival. Epic journeys. Nicastro's action-packed historical novel about Alexander the Great covers it all. The author's unique storytelling method unveils the life of Alexander, the warrior god, through the testimony of Machon, Alexander's friend, during his trial after Alexander has died. Nicastro is a deft storyteller who completely transports the reader into Alexander's tempestuous journey of conquest. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to be immersed in Alexander's conquest of Macedonia.

Summary: Fabulously Written Book
Review: In a courtroom in ancient Athens, a companion of Alexander must prove that the charges that he corrupted "god" Alexander are false.

The author's original uncanny characterization, soaring battlefield depictions, and flamboyant events of that era are beautifully portrayed. I definitely recommend this book and believe that the non-historical readers will enjoy it as well.

Summary: Excellent!
Review: This is the first book of Nicastro's I've read, but it certainly won't be the last. His style is deft, clear and sharply edged, and yet without a hint of dryness .... a wonderful story-teller with that rare ability to bring the historical past alive with a newness and satisfying intimacy one doesn't often find these days. If you think you've heard all there is to hear about Alexander the Great and his world, read this book and be prepared for a fresh and exciting new perspective with more than a few fascinating surprizes. I read it through in practically a single sitting; it was that compelling.

Summary: Best Book I Read in 2004
Review: This is the third novel I've read by Nicholas Nicastro and he has officially become one of my favorite authors. His latest novel on Alexander the Great is his best to date. He exceeds the skillful character development he attained in his novels about John Paul Jones. As well, Nicastro manages to mix historical fact and fiction in the most entertaining fashion. And his third book adds an extra kick--packed with action on and off the battlefield. Weighing in at just over 350 pages, I read the book in one sitting. I couldn't wait to find out what happened to Alexander and the man accused of involvement in his ultimate demise. I hope Nicastro has another book ready to publish.
