Rating: Summary: O'Brien's Best to Date Review: SUMMARY: The rumored haunted hall of St. Bart's at Our Lady of Sorrows Seminary in upstate Washington is the host of a peculiar, loosely-related murder-suicides. New priest Jack Murphy teams up with the sister of one of the victims before the killer can strike again.WHY YOU'LL LIKE IT: O'Brien's taut terror has never been better; this is by far the best book in what can be called a "series." As usual, characters are numerous, but there is more characterization in this work. You come to know these people and care what happens to them. Genuine twists abound and keep you guessing almost until the end. WHY YOU WON'T: Anyone who has a problem with the Thorn Birds or the Catholic church in general might not appreciate this book. Burgeoning teenage sexuality (and yes, this includes homosexuality) might turn some people off. BOTTOM LINE: O'Brien's best work, good characters, intruiging plot. Highly recommend.
Rating: Summary: Very Captivating Review: This is the first book I've read by this author, and I really enjoyed his style. He has a talent for keeping the reader engaged. I didn't think I was going to like it because the subjects of Catholicism and the priesthood are not of interest to me personally. However, I was pleasantly surprised. If an author can take a subject I personally find boring and create a story I can't put down, he has to be good. My only criticism is that it was pretty predicatable. I knew who the killer was half-way though (But that didn't stop me from reading it!). I would definitely recommend this book to anyone interested in thrillers or suspense.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: This is the second time that I have read the book and I loved it each time. You think that you have the killer figured out and then you will change your mind several times before the end. Great read just like the other books. Can't wait to read the next one that I hear is coming out in May or June.
Rating: Summary: A pertty good read. Review: This was the first book by O'Brien tht I read, and I'll probally see if I can find the rest of them. The characters were pretty good, they had some good depth to them. The writing style by O'Brien was pretty good. A coulpe of nice plot twists. But overall, I was wanting a little bit more. We never know why the killer does what he does. We're not given any motivation for the killers actions. What drives him to do what he did. There's a killer lose in Seattle. His first 3 victims are a younge judge, a waitress, and a college student. They come from all walks of life, but yet, they all have one common element. That one single element makes them perfect for the killer. The problem is, he's not done. The killer has a mission, and nothing will stop him from creating his personal masterpiece of horror. (this can be found out on the back of the book. Like I said, this was a pretty good read. If you read it, you probally won't be sorry. Just expect all of your questions will be answered. I've read better and I've read worse, much worse. Give it a try, you might like it.
