Rating: Summary: Where Tigers Prowl.....INTENSE! Review: Karin Story weaves a page-turning tale of suspense, romance and a twist of the unexpected! This is definitely a book I couldn't put down. Story doesn't just slowly pull you in, right from the beginning with the prologue, she yanks the reader in...so deep into the characters and plot that you wonder if you'll ever find your way out. You won't be disappointed in Maris, she's feisty, determined, feminine and a worthy opponent. Tom is more than your typical hero, strong and masculine, bold yet honest. Together, Tom and Maris create a high-intensity team that has the reader hoping they'll survive long enough to enjoy one another as a couple. Don't miss out on this thrilling adventure!

Rating: Summary: An intriguing adventure. Review: The adventure begins when Maris Rhodes finds a man washed up on her Connecticut beach in the middle of a hurricane. Good thing she worked all those years in Search and Rescue in Colorado, but even so, this man seems hurt beyond her abilities to tend to him. She calls 911 only to discover that the medical response teams are already stretched thin to handle injuries related to the storm. If hers is not a life or death situation, she has to wait until morning. When the man wakens, he can't remember his name or where he received the gunshot wound or the obvious signs of torture, but he mumbles something about 'Tom,' so that is what Maris calls him. She suspects there is a dark mystery that this golden-eyed man is hiding, and she is not sure if the amnesia is real. To solve that mystery, Maris and Tom go to New York, then to Colorado and eventually to Mexico where a drug cartel operates. Tom now suspects that he is somehow connected to that cartel, but he isn't sure if he's a good guy or a bad guy. Neither is Maris, even though her heart has started to tell her that this is the man she has wanted all her life. Maris is an interesting character, strong and independent, and as she puts it, "I can take care of myself. I don't need some man protecting me." Tom is a typical flawed hero, in fact so typical that I had trouble finding the appeal. The minor characters, especially Maris's doctor friend, Jerry were fresh and well-defined. I wished for more scenes with this giant of a man with the acerbic wit and his devotion to his friend. I really wanted to love this book. It starts off with some great, vivid writing. The reader can feel and hear the storm; "The October night was as dark as the underbelly of some evil beast." And later the author writes, "So they stood there, still as two pieces on a chess board, frozen in one spot until the next move." The quality of that writing, however, was not sustained and the story suffered from some contrived plotting. It was also heavily overwritten in spots and sometimes stretched belief. I particularly had a hard time accepting that Maris and Tom would be considering the problems of their relationship in the middle of some tense situation when they were facing great danger. -Maryann Miller
