Rating: Summary: MUST READ! Review: A gripping novel engagingly describing the corrupting influence of political power. Just when you think all it lost, the Phoenix rises out of the ashes!
Rating: Summary: Letter to the author Review: I am a retired CEO of a regional bank and an avid reader of books. It has been many many years since I devoted one whole day to reading an entire novel from cover to cover. Your book Capital Offense compelled me to do just that. I literally could not put it down and turned each page with great anticipation of what was to come. Your ability to not only make the reader become involved in the story, but almost to feel as if they were one of the characters is truly exceptional. I look forward to any of your future novels and hope you accept my thanks for a really exciting day of outstanding reading enjoyment.
Rating: Summary: Takes you into the backrooms of political power brokers Review: Kathleen Antrim's debut novel depicts a frightening tale of conspiracy in American politics. As an ambitious, but policy-driven prosecutor supports her husband's bid for the presidency, the reader is provided an engrossing tour through the bedrooms and back alleys that lie along the road to the White House. Carolyn Alden Lane endures abuse and infidelity in her effort to achieve a position from which to launch her political agenda. While at the same time, journalist Jack Rudly, faced with deceit, betrayal and multiple murders, is gripped by a mounting paranoia which propels him and the reader to a surprising climax. If you found the suspense and political intrigue of "Evil, Be Gone" titillating, continue the excitement with Antrim's "Capital Offense." - Robert John Estko, author of "Evil, Be Gone"
Rating: Summary: Author's Note Review: The plot for this book is original, and I will give the author credit for coming up with an unique idea. What was so disappointing, however, is that the English is so bad that it gets in the way of the story. To illustrate, here is an interesting example of the author's writing: "Recently returned from a writers retreat in Rome, her short story TORN has been published in an anthology." Oh my. This sentence claims that a short story just returned from Rome! I think Ms. Antrim was trying to say that the writer of the short story returned from Rome, but that's not what the sentence says. I hope the short story had a nice trip! Seriously, this is the kind of thing you learn about in high school English classes. Also, I think Ms. Antrim must have skipped the whole part of English where we learned about when and how to use commas. This review is too long already, so I won't give an example. To sum up: I do not recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: Fast-Paced Political Thriller Review: This book is a great, fun read. It starts out fast and only gets faster. I couldn't wait to find out how it all turns out and I wasn't disappointed. A great first book by a promising author. Her style and story line reminds me of Robert Ludlum.
Rating: Summary: Power, Politics, Deceit Review: This book is hard to put down. It combines suspense, mystery and romance mixed with deceit and vengance. A fast paced edge of your seat story keeps you intriqued. Hard to believe this is fiction!
Rating: Summary: A roller coaster political thriller Review: This book will keep you on the edge of your seat. It's hard to pinpoint the good and bad characters. It'll keep you guessing until the end.
Rating: Summary: addictive Review: Wow, i just couldn't put it down......the plotting of the book was super....Kathleen Antrim has a way with making her people come alive....i could see the adventure onfolding with each page and would love to see it as a film.....days after i had finished the novel i pictured in my mind what actor/actress i saw as each character....then i realized that i could not picture what actress would do justice to the first lady, Carolyn.....Ms. Antrim created an original, a character solely onto herself...still in all, i would be curious to see the novel as a film.....Can't wait to read Ms.Antrim's next endeavor....k.k.barto
