Summary: The Ultimate Suspense Novel
Review: Again, Dr. Rawlings has written an outstanding novel. The historical information in the book makes it believable, and the suspense will keep you on the edge of your seat. If you want a novel you can't put down, this is the one for you. I highly recommend it.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Pure entertainment
Review: An author once told me a great fiction should provide an entertaining alternative to other outlets such as TV, etc - this book did just that...it was a very exciting story written very well. It had the elements of suspense, mystery, murder and it kept me wanting more.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: It's a page turner!
Review: Don't start it in the evening unless you plan to stay awake all nite. Glimpses of Southern life intertwined with a good ole murder mystery and ending sooner than you would like!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: It just keeps getting better.
Review: I was actually fortunate enough to hear a talk by this author at his book signing at our local library in "Walkerville" regarding the elements of a great fiction novel. He stayed true to his recommendations in "The Rutherford Cipher". It was great, I have now purchased his last book "The Lazard Legacy" and this one. I usually frequent the library instead of buying books, however I really wanted to have my own copies of these two. The plot was outstanding and very complex, but not to the point that the ordinary reader could not keep up or enjoy. I didn't want to put it down. I have a 3 year old and don't get to read like I once did, I finished this book in 3 days. At the book signing I was able to hear the first 2 chapters of his next work in progress and I can't wait for it to come out. So look out for this author, there are more great things to come.

Summary: The Rutherford Cipher
Review: Rawlings is an adept craftman and intriguing story teller. A good deal of research went into the research that, at times, brings the reader unsuspectingly into the intimate company of 1865's Captain Rutherford. The characters are real, and depicted in ways one readily recognizes familiar small town folks. I read it in one day, then, upset it ended so quickly, read it again the next! Certainly, a sequal must be in the offing, since Lisa vanishes much too unceremoniously. Am grateful to Dr. Rawlings partner, and sister, Dr. Sumner for having shared it with me following a cat fish fry the night before.

Summary: Excellent Effort
Review: The protagonist was well developed in this novel. Clever plot idea; it is obvious Dr. Rawlings put a great deal of effort into his research. I am from Sandersville (Walkerville) and enjoyed figuring out different landmarks, etc.

Summary: The Perfect Recipe
Review: The Rutherford Cipher has the perfect blend of Southern charm, history, adventure, suspense and intrigue. The plot possesses a sheer magnetism that embraced me and held me in it's clutches til the very end. I have to admit that I didn't want the tale to end. I enjoyed the complex relationships of the charaters in the tale. I live in a nearby hamlet of Walkersville and can testify that this book is both credible and conveivable.

Enjoy!

Summary: A Genuine Page-turner!
Review: This book truly captivated me from beginning to end. I read it in one sitting, with infrequent breaks. William Rawlings has turned out a first-rate novel, with just the right amount of romance and intrigue!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great Rainy Day Read
Review: Using a perfect blend of local color and historical accuracy, even the most skeptical reader will close this book wondering if, just by chance, The Rutherford Cipher contains more truth than fiction. . . It made this reader wish Dr. Rawlings would spend more time on fiction and less on writing prescriptions!
