Summary: Another Beautiful Work
Review: Francine Rivers brings to life with power and authenticity the language and feel of mid-1800's Appalachia. The Last Sin Eater is the story of 10-year-old Cadi Forbes whose family is wracked with grief over a terrible tragedy for which Cadi blames herself. Because of this tragedy, she has lost her mother's love and is the object of scorn in her small community. The only way for Cadi to redeem herself is to find the "sin eater" and confess her role in the tragedy.

What follows is a beautifully drawn story of discovery, redemption, and grace. The characters are authentic and believable. The reader can empathize with Cadi's feelings of failure and inadequacy, experience her mother's pain and loss, and understand the resistance of the community to relinguish its old ways. Miss Rivers has done a beautiful job of creating parallels between the "sin eater" and Jesus Christ, the only true way to the throne, without making a mockery of the people she protrays.

Summary: One Sitting
Review: I didn't know who Francine Rivers was but while looking at the library this title got my attention so I checked it out. I started reading it early in the day, and didn't lay it down until I had finished it late at night! (I have never done this before) I am a die-hard Francine Rivers fan now. I have read many more of her books and although none have grabbed me like this one, I am NEVER disappointed...BUY IT AND SEE!!

Summary: Humbling and Heartwarming
Review: Like other reviewers, I had never read Francine Rivers. If this book had not been given to me as a gift I never would have read it. I am so thankful I received it! I plan on reading more of her work.

This is the story of a girl's journey to find forgiveness. Her pain is deep and believable, and if you've ever needed forgiveness you will identify with her immediately.

All of the characters in The Last Sin Eater have depth. After finishing the book, I found myself thinking of them, something very few authors have made me do.

Although this is an easy read, it is suspenseful, humbling, heartwarming, and very well written. Definitely not one-dimensional. I laughed and I cried. I had to force myself to put it down at 3:30 a.m., (and it was difficult). I highly recommend it.

Summary: Wow! What an amazing book!
Review: The book Atonement Child first turned me on to Francine Rivers books, but The Last Sin Eater has surpassed most of anything I have ever read. Spell-binding doesn't come close to describing this book! It kept all of our noses in the family glued to the pages. It is very historically informative as well as spiritually enlightening. Great story line about Cadi and Lilybet, and it doesn't reveal everything right away. You'll learn as you go. Characters are deep and will capture your empathy and curiousity. Sin Eater made me research the old Welsh culture as well. I would reccomend this book to young and old, male and female. Sooooo good! It'll raise your standards of reading in the future!

Summary: My favorite Francine Rivers
Review: The Last Sin Eater is a great read. It is my favorite Francine rivers book and I love all of her work! This novel is a different from her other books. I surpasses the genre of Christian literature. The story is told the eyes of ten year old Cadi. She is a unique character that made me laugh out loud and cry at the same time. The dialect added to the charm of this book. I really loved it!

Summary: Profoundly Powerful
Review: This was the first Francine Rivers novel that I have read and I loved it! While I agree with some of the other reviews that parts of it were unrealistic (like a 10 year old quoting word for word Scripture from the Bible that she has never read), I think it was still a very effective story.

I was thrilled with the suspense in the story and the surprise twists along the way. I was deeply touched by Cadi's longing to have her sin removed and her determination to find the Sin Eater. The imaginary friend Lilybet was a nice touch, though I didn't figure out she was imaginary for a few pages!

Just a marvelous piece of work with a message that will stand the test of time: Jesus Christ is the only way to God and the only one who has the power to remove sins.

Profound.

Summary: The Last Sin Eater
Review: Wow! This story gripped me. What a concept! I learned so much from this book. Francine Rivers has once again made me feel as though I knew the main character personally. I related to her so much. I could feel her emotions and was brought to tears at the same times throughout the story, that she was. I recommend this story to anyone who needs to capture the reality of God's grace, forgiveness and redeeming love. You'll need to take a big deep breath at the end of the story and close your eyes and thank God for bringing this book into your life.
