Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: "Ghosts of Fire" Blazes! Review: Maureen Morah Smith can tell a story and she can write that story very well! She proves both of these facts in her debut novel, "Ghost of Fire". In "Ghost of Fire" the father of graphic designer, Rachel Calloway, has been accused of arson. His popular restaurant has burned to the ground after he has increased his insurance. Coincidence? It doesn't look good, and it gets worse. As evidence against her father mounts, the case is given to the ruthless prosecuting attorney, Nick Hunter. The man is known for winning. Yet this is one case that Rachel is determined that he will lose. She is positive that her father is innocent. Nick is just as positive that he is guilty. The battle lines are drawn. Smith has written an intriguing page turner that keeps its readers wanting more. Her narrative is flawless as she skillfully builds the growing relationship between Rachel and Nick while cleverly enterwining the novel's mounting suspense. The climax is action filled and avoids much of the helpless female victim role found in so many novels. Rachael Calloway is no wimp. I highly recommend "Ghosts of Fire" as a read that will be difficult to put down. I know that it kept me up reading late into the night and has made me a fan of Maureen Morah Smith.

Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: The Hunter Review: The setting, an affluent county in Maryland, is the home of Rachel Calloway and Nicholas Hunter. Rachel is an intelligent graphic designer, devoted daughter, and loyal friend. Nicholas is a tortured but well-respected and feared prosecuting attorney. When Rachel's father is accused and charged with setting his popular restaurant on fire, Rachel and Nicholas' paths cross which is the beginning of an inferno. The characters face a dilemma that mixes responsibilities with matters of the heart, adding fuel to a raging fire. The characters, primary and secondary, are appropriately developed and their interactions with each other are engrossing and realistic. Each character has a story to tell (which is not glossed over nor overdone) that adds an understanding to their existing plight. Smith does such an excellent job of blending mystery and romance, this story had me turning the pages trying to decide whom the culprit was, only to be fooled several times. Add the very sexy and romantic scenes and you have an excellent and suspenseful read by a writer whose work I look forward to reading in the future.
