Summary: Fabulous summer read!
Review: I thought Jaffe's first book was great, but I loved Water Nymph even more. Jaffe really seems to be coming into her own as a writer -- all of the promise of Stargazer is fully realized in this fabulous romance/mystery. Sophie is a real heroine, not some cookie cutter mannequin like you'll find in a lot of romances, and the other characters have similar depth and appeal. The plot is full of fun twists and lots of historical detail, not to mention some very steamy liasons between Sophie and Crispin. All in all, a truly wonderful read. Can't wait for the next Arboretti tale.

Summary: Pretty Good
Review: I'll give this author a lot of points for good, taut writing, great steamy sex scenes, and intricate plotting. However, one of the things I take issue with is that her hero strikes me as a tad wimpy and indecisive. In short, he thinks like a not-to-bright romantic heroine, not a hero, and to me, he lacks the edge necessary to make this an excellent romance instead of merely a good one. And while I am willing to suspend disbelief to a large degree, the willingness of the heroine in both this and Jaffe's previous novel to strip naked on some unbelievable pretext almost immediately upon meeting the hero is way too contrived. However, even with these quibbles, I would recommending buying this book; this writer is very good and has the potential to be great, if she disregards her formula and starts to put more tension in her books.

Summary: Excellent romance
Review: In 1588 London, Queen Elizabeth I informs Crispin Foscari, Earl of Sandal, that he is relieved of duty due to accusations of treason. Her Royal Highness gives a shocked Crispin fourteen days to clear his name or potentially face the hangman's noose. Crispin wastes no time seeking information to prove his alias Phoenix is innocent of the charges.

In the Unicorn club, Crispin observes Sophie Champion dressed as a male. He confronts her with her gender and accuses her of killing informant Richard Tottle at the fastidious gambling hall. Sophie denies murdering Richard. She like Crispin was seeking information from the deceased. Sophie hopes to learn why someone killed her beloved godfather though officially it has been declared an accident. While Crispin and Sophie wage a battle of wits throughout London's seamier side, they fall in love even though an unknown enemy wants to take both of them out.

Faster than the speed of light, Michele Jaffe has attained a high reputation for excellence from romance readers and reviewers. Her newest novel, THE WATER NYMPH, is a delightful Elizabethan romantic suspense that historical fans will fully enjoy. The story line is filled with intrigue that brings a bygone era alive even as the tension grips the audience. The lead charcaters are an intrepid pair whose humorous battle provides comic yet serious relief. This book is another triumph for Ms. Jaffe who will find readers clamoring for a sequel starring an intriguing secondary character.

Summary: Brilliant....
Review: Simply brilliant, cannot wait to read more of her work!

Summary: Mysterious, Romantic, Suspenseful: Absolutely Stunning
Review: THE WATER NYMPH is Michele Jaffe's second book in the Arboretti series. This one takes place in England during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. Crispin Foscari, the dashing Earl of Sandal, has been framed and Queen Elizabeth has given him only a few weeks to solve the mystery and clear his name. The beautiful Sophie Champion has been simultaneously investigating the murder of her godfather. Never did she imagine that she would be swept into a world of intrigue, deception, and sizzling passion after meeting the Earl of Sandal and becoming involved in their entwining mysteries.

This book blew me away. Plain and simple. I never knew that mystery could be seamlessly woven into the intricate folds of romance to create a passionate, suspenseful, and touching love story.

Although this story possesses all the classic romantic elements like love lost, love gained, sex and suspense, this romance is much more complex: it takes all these elements and increases them tenfold to create a romance like none other. The chemistry between Crispin and Sophie is undeniable. The mystery surrounding them is electrifying. The hot love scenes are hypnotizing. The beautiful backdrop of Crispin's exotic hanging garden is breathtaking.

This book is worth far more than 5 stars. Not only does it follow in the magnificent footsteps of THE STARGAZER, but the ending is so spectacular that you'll be left yearning for the story to go on forever.

Summary: A wonderful voice in this genre
Review: This book was as good, or better, than Stargazer. I love the characters of Crispin and Sophie and the setting in Renaissance times is wonderful. The love scenes are sensual and exciting and the mystery was just complicated enough to make it interesting. I can not wait for Jaffe's next book. Please, give us another story of the Arboretti men. I want to meet them all. Maybe Tristan can be next?

Review: This book was outstanding. It has several points that are similar to The Stargazer. After reading this I can't wait for more books By Michele Jaffe. She's one of the best.

Summary: I will read her work again
Review: This is the first book by Ms. Jaffe that I have read, and it was so good, that I am going to find her other book, The Stargazer, next.

Sophie, the heroine, is a smart strong woman that goes to investigate what she suspects is the murder of her godfather. Unknown to her, she is being framed for numerous murders, her investigation leads her to become entangled with a master spy, Crispin Foscari, and her life is in danger. The book is a fun mystery with secondary characters that make you wonder if there is a sequel to follow.

Be warned, the love scenes are steamy!
