Rating: Summary: Great book Review: In today's world things like this happens all the time but you never know how it really affect's the child. Bernadette Connor did a great job telling the real deal, my hat go's off to a great novel. It made you laugh and it made you cry.
Rating: Summary: ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! Review: My book club, Sisters United In Verse, had the honor of reading Ms. Connor's book. We absolutely loved the book! I thought it was very well written and was surprised to learn that Ms. Connor had no formal writing classes. She definitely did her research! I can't wait for another book. It just goes to show that African-American writers can right about positive images (Max, Clayton, Vivian and Hoaward) and some negative images and we as the African-Americans will still buy and read the book! Thanks Ms. Connor!
Rating: Summary: A Bad Girl that You Can't Help But Love Review: Nobody should have to endure the horrors of physical, mental and sexual abuse as a child, but that's what Adrena had to do. After 10 years of neglect, Adrena finally is in the care of a concerned doctor, and eventually ends up in a loving foster home. Unfortunatley, it will take more than counseling and love to completely restore Adrena's mind to herslef. Nevertheless, reading about Adrena's journey and the people that came in contact with Adrena, was worth every page. The characters are well developed, and I came to care about all of them. There's enough pain and love to please any reader in this novel.
Rating: Summary: 10+ .....Excellent Read!!! Review: This book touched every single emotion.... I could not put it down!!! The story surrounded the life struggles of Adrena Reynolds, a child abuse victim haunted by the demons of her past. I found myself laughing, crying, getting angry and expriencing a roller coaster of emotions as I turned each page. Every character had relevance and a purpose in the story. The book was extremely well organized and the plot came full circle in the end. This read made for a lively discussion in my book club. I think we all agreed that when we got to the end of the book, we were as emotional and intrigued as when we started. I voted for Damaged as our #1 read in 2000. I can't believe this is the first book for Bernadette... Outstanding!! I look forward to future works from this author.

Rating: Summary: EXCELLENT READ! THIS BOOK KEEPS YOU IN SUSPENSE Review: This book was excellent. Their was so much suspense and drama my nerves were on edge. I had to put the book down for a couple of days, because it was too much for me to absorb. I was angry with her parents and everyone that created pain and affliction upon her. Her parents just made me sick for the type of life they forced upon her and yet I was happy for the life her psycologist and her family allowed her to experience. I also wonder if the good old doctor ever realized that she was the one that drove Adrena to her final edge, because Adrena was holding in her struggles to help her doctor cope with her problems. I wanted a happy ending, but I guess everything can not always end happy. I cried so hard, oh it was so emotional, that you would have thought that someone in my family had died. This is a highly recommended piece to read. VP of Circle of Friends Book CLub in Atlanta, GA

Rating: Summary: EXCELLENT!EXCELLENT!EXCELLENT! Review: This book was recommended to me by a member of my book club (COF II). She spoke so highly of the book & even shared with me that she had burnt some night oil finishing it. Her enthusiam about the book caused me to call around town trying to find the book. I finally ended up ordering the book & begin reading it a few days ago. I finished the book on last evening. I can only tell others that once you start reading this book, you will NOT be able to put it down. What an excellent book that is well written (no errors or typos) and the language is very understandable. I don't want to spoil the story for those who will read it, but the ending was a bit sad! I couldn't stop the tears from flowing because I could literally feel Adrena's pain. Hats off to Ms. Connor and I want to say to her that she has a fan for life in Georgia! This is an excellent book! that addresses abuse in one of it's worst forms (incest). The author did a superb job!!!!!
