Summary: Nothing to say but EXCELLENT
Review: I just finished this book, and I want more. Adrena suffered what no child should ever suffer, but she had Doc in her corner. She could have so easily gotten lost in the system. I know its fiction, but its non-fiction to those of us who work in the field of Child Abuse. Incorporating the lives of Vivian, Maxine, Howard and Junior brought some realism to the book. It will take you through a gamet of emotions but you will enjoy every page. I thought this book was a little like PUSH, and a little of Sasha's Way, but a whole lot different also. Excellent, must read book

Review: I loved this book. It will make you cry laugh and shout right along with the book. You will fall in love with Adrena Reynolds. You will feel her pain and happens. This was a very will written book and can not wait for the next book.

Summary: A DEFINITE MUST READ!!!!
Review: I originally posted this review on June 3, 1999 This book was recommended to me by a member of my book club (COF II). She spoke so highly of the book & even shared with me that she had burnt some night oil finishing it. Her enthusiam about the book caused me to call around town trying to find the book. I finally ended up ordering the book & begin reading it a few days ago. I finished the book on last evening. I can only tell others that once you start reading this book, you will NOT be able to put it down. What an excellent book that is well written (no errors or typos) and the language is very understandable. I don't want to spoil the story for those who will read it, but the ending was a bit sad! I couldn't stop the tears from flowing because I could literally feel Adrena's pain. Hats off to Ms. Connor and I want to say to her that she has a fan for life in Georgia! This is an excellent book! that addresses abuse in one of it's worst forms (incest). The author did a superb job!...

Review: I read books daily, but this one is top on my list. I could not put the book down. You can loose yourself in it. The movie would be great!!!! I hope the author does not stop at this one she has a very promising career!!!

Summary: excellent read---drama--suspense and a tear jerker
Review: I think this was an excellent book. The storyline was so real, however you just hated to imagine these things actually happening to "Adrena" I cried when she cried and I vented when she vented. This book had me on the edge of my seat. It was exciting, unbelievablly real and I cant wait for the author to write another one. And not to give away the story the ending was out of this world. I was actually hoping for a happy ending and in some way it was, but for anyone who loves to read or just want and eye opener or real life wake up call please read this book.

Summary: DAMAGED IS EXPOSED.
Review: I'd never heard of nor seen Bernadette Connor prior to reading this book. She's not one of those popular authors that you hear about all the time, but let me tell you something, she should be. She paints a picture so vividly, exposes wounds so deep and joy so high that you feel it all. Her main character, Adrena is totally believeable. The story was so tragic, that I cried because it touches on so many things that are wrong with this society like drug abuse, child abuse and neglect, rape and their affects on the family and especially children it just about drives you to become an advocate. I can't say enough about the book, I highly recommend it. Am I gushing? You're darn right because it was that good!

Summary: Excellent debut
Review: I'll admit that after hearing an excerpt of Damaged read by its author, I was intrigued by the writing style, but turned off by the subject matter. Still, I bought the book, based solely on the authors engaging personality. It sat on my shelf for months until I grabbed it to take on a train ride. All I can say is, "Oh my!" While the subject of child abuse is a difficult one for me to stomach, Damaged! is so much MORE. It's a thriller, it's a love story, it's a wonderful way to pass the time. The dialogue is so rich and engaging and Bernadette is a witty, humorous writer.I truly enjoyed this novel and look forward to many more by this very special author.

Review: If you are afraid to share your emotions in public, read this book at home (especially the latter portion). Bernadette's character development was such that I anticipated page after page (wrongly I might add). Imagine in the mist of discovering that we are all damaged, I found Mr. Matthews and Howard Shaw. Question - who was the third body? This was an excellent discussion book, and I will talk this one up for a long time.
