Rating: Summary: Starts Slow, but has a good ending Review: This book has a tediously slow start for about 100 pages. It had a good ending with some good action. The name "The Presidents Daughter" is a little deceiving since it is really only addressed in the last chapter.
Rating: Summary: Entertaining, but weak....'lite' reading Review: Adequate airplane reading, this book had tons of potential, but didn't follow through. Great plot idea, but it turned into a predictable tale in the last third. It seemed as if Higgins had lots of extra characters he wanted to include, so he dumped them in the last few chapters with no time to develop them. His portrayal of women as beautiful, strong willed, but totally helpless is stereotypical and disappointing. Don't spend the money on this one - borrow it from the library, and keep you expectations very low. You may be pleasantly surprised.
Rating: Summary: A Waste of $$ Review: This book was so weak - no character development, horrible dialogue, and poorly conceived plot development. The concept was almost there, but the execution is so far off the mark. Another reviewer referred to this book as the work of a college student. That's too much of a compliment.
Rating: Summary: President, Terrorists and Sean Dillon What more do you Need? Review: Jack Higgins is getting better and better. The current President of the USA has a problem, his Illegitimate daughter has been kidnaped. Due to a security breach he calls on the English top secret 'Group 4' to help this department is the PM's private army, and run by Charles Ferguson and deadly rival to any group. Sean Dillon group 4's number one man is sent to help the President. Written by the master of suspence it is a gripping book that i find to be one of his best. For a long running series featuring Sean Dillon and co. it is even better.
Rating: Summary: Like Kissing Your Sister Review: Many times I picked this book up at the bookstore, and thought of purchasing it. Finally, I did. Unfortunaely, it was after reading two Tom Clancey novel. Suspense, intruigue, mystery is connected with both writers, but there is truly no comparison. The plot was almost as weak as the character development. It was almost laughable. Ridiculous. This book more closely resembled a first draft of an ambitious college student. I should have saved the seven bucks!
Rating: Summary: Takes off slowly. Review: Twenty years ago Jake Cazalet was in Vietnam and saved the life of a widowed French woman. They had a brief affair before she found out her husband was alive after all. Now he is President of the United States. On a visit to Paris, he sees her again. The book started off slow to me. However, it picks up speed and starts rolling.
Rating: Summary: I found this book to be offensive to Jews. Review: The President's daughter presents a scenario of an international Jewish conspiracy to kidnap the daughter of the president of the United States, with the aim of forcing the president to take military action against Iran, Iraq and Syria. The leader of this group of rich Jews is an American who has taken on the moniker of Judas. The group which is comprised of Jews from France, England,Israel and the United States are called the Macabees. They take this name from the biblical freedom fighters who liberated the Jewish people from the oppressive rule of the Greco/Syrians. The leader of that group's name was Judah. Judas of course was the disciple whom betrayed Jesus. No Jew would assume a name so offensive to Christians. Through out the book there are references to having a fifth column of Jews in the US,England and France who are willing to put the interests of Israel above those of their own country . He ends the book with the rescue of the president's daughter and her triumphal return to Washington, wearing a simple gold cross around her neck. There isn't enough space to go into all the subtle anti-semetic inferences in this book. As an avid reader of Jack Higgins previous works I was greatly disappointed by this book.
Rating: Summary: Jack does it again with his fast paced increadible book!! Review: Jack Higgins how can you say anymore then he is the man. His main character has held millons gipping to the edge of there seats. His main character Sean Dillin is the perfect role.
Rating: Summary: Action Packed, Doesn't let you take a breather Review: If you are looking for a book to give you a quick action fix this is the book for you. Higgins doesn't mess around with the background information found in other books of the same type. This is the perfect book for your plane ride or an afternoon under the shade tree. The players in the story are complex in their own ways, making it a page turner.
Rating: Summary: Predictable, predictable, predictable Review: One third of the way through the book I knew what would be happening at the end, quite disappointing.
