Rating: Summary: worst book ever Review: I was sorry I ever picked up this book after only a few minutes of reading. By the midway point I figured nothing could redeem it, but still read on intent on seeing if the ending would make me like this story. I was sadly disapointed by the lack of brains on the part of the characters. I have never came across two characters so badly written. I will never read another book by this author again.
Rating: Summary: What a swell read! Review: I was surprised at the depth of characterization Anderson achieved. Not only was her book well-written, it was also filled with interesting tidbits of information connected to the Appalachian region. I especially enjoyed the pace of the story, the supernatural element, and the everyday characters (I think I may have met a few of these before!) The book was highly entertaining, thoughtful, romantic (!), and the type which made me think long after I'd finished it.

Rating: Summary: love is hard to put into words, until now Review: Linda Anderson has done an excellent job of describing the one mystery in life everyone experiences. Love. In this particular novel, Anderson forms vivd, allusive pictures of the actual feelings love instills in all of us. I commend her for writing an end to a mystery.
Rating: Summary: Great blend of mystery & romance Review: This book contains a sensual romance along with a clever mystery. The author kept me guessing as she slowly unraveled "Sadie's secrets", and I especially appreciated the plot twists and surprise ending. A quick, satisfying read!

Rating: Summary: Fabulous Romantic Suspense Review: This was really a well-crafted book. Memphis is a great modern heroine who doesn't back down, and solves her own problems, no matter what they might be. She's adventurous, courageous, and for once a romance author didn't create a strong female character who does a masculine job who comes across in the book as weak-willed, helpless, and in need of rescuing. Memphis is a war zone photojournalist who, despite problems, is able to trek into the back hills of West Virginia in search of her grandmother's (Sadie's) burial site, and to ward off unfriendly natives to find the killer.Cutter's character is a bit less established. His motivations are nebulous, though interesting. I would have liked to know more about his background as both the richest kid in town AND the local charity case. From Cutter, the secondary characters seem to become even thinnner. Jake, Memphis's ex, is probably the best defined, but even he is weakly motivated. Three of the most important minor characters seem to disappear too early for a proper resolution, making for a slightly anti-climactic ending. Still, all in all, this is a great book. Read it for Memphis, and for the look at rural areas remeniscent of Catherine Marshall or Sharon McCrumb.
Rating: Summary: What a swell read! Review: When I read this book it brought to mind of a murder in Logan County, WVa back in the thirties, I think. I believe that a blck man was convicted of that murder. I think she did an excellant job on writing this book.
