Rating: Summary: Great historical mystery within a warm romantic intrigue Review: In 1936 mountains of West Virginia, Sadie Maynard was murdered and her boy never recovered. Amos Washington, a poor Black handyman, was convicted of the crime. However, most folks in the area believe that Macauley Tate actually committed the killing. Six decades later, the murder of Sadie Maynard has become part of national television due to the work of reporter Jake Bishop. He learned the story while making love to Sadie's granddaughter, internationally renowned photojournalist Memphis Maynard and in between touring hot spots around the world, decided to write a series of books on unsolved crimes. Memphis, accompanied by her infant, arrives in the West Virginia hills to find the remains of her grandmother, whose ghost allegedly haunts the area and to prove that Macauley killed Sadie. She meets Macauley's grandson Cutter, who wants the story to go away. As she pursues the truth, Memphis and Cutter fall in love with one another. However, the truth is out there and that could end any permanent relationship between the duo. Make no secret that THE SECRETS OF SADIE MAYNARD is a fantastic romantic intrigue that will thrill readers of the sub-genre. The historical mystery adds depth to the modern sleuthing of the two reporters and their adversary Cutter. The gradual change from out right hostility and suspicion to love adds warmth and depth to the fantastic story line. With this novel and OVER THE MOON, Linda Anderson appears ready to reach the summit of the sub-genre. Harriet Klausner
Rating: Summary: Excellent balance of suspense and romance. Review: Adored this book - great balance of suspense, supernatural possibilites, and romance. I loved the fact that the characters were original and didn't read like "stock" characters. If you want a book you can't put down, this is the one.

Rating: Summary: Couldn't put it down! Review: Great story! My husband & I read it (fought over it) at the same time. Can't wait to read more by Linda Anderson!
Rating: Summary: Slow reading, too many characters. Review: Having read and loved "Over the Moon," I eagerly anticipated Linda Anderson's newest novel, "The Secrets of Sadie Maynard." This book disappointed me in that there was too much time spent on hillbilly characters and not enough time with Cutter and Memphis. Too much emphasis was put on the back-hills, mountain culture. I finished the book only to give it a chance till the end, but it didn't satisfy my hunger for a great story.

Rating: Summary: worst book ever Review: I was sorry I ever picked up this book after only a few minutes of reading. By the midway point I figured nothing could redeem it, but still read on intent on seeing if the ending would make me like this story. I was sadly disapointed by the lack of brains on the part of the characters. I have never came across two characters so badly written. I will never read another book by this author again.
