Summary: Not her Best by far
Review: This was definitely a Deveraux, had her style but not quite her flair. It was somewhat of a disappointment to wait for her new book than this be it. Good by itself but doesn't compare to other stories of hers.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Lots of fun.
Review: Even though this book was a slight departure from Jude's normal style, it was great fun. Jude always makes me laugh out loud. I liked Fiona - I was right there with her when she slayed the alligator! As much as I enjoy the historical novels, I really liked the current theme. I did feel as though some of the characters needed something more and that they should have been more involved in the story earlier but that didn't take away from the story over all. It was well worth reading a second and third time.

Summary: Disappointed
Review: I have loved Jude Deveraux' books since I first picked up "A Knight In Shining Armor" and every book she has written about the Montgomery/Taggert clan is great and satisfying. This however, was not.

The plot started off well, with Fiona as a tough-as-nails New York doll designer? And Ace Montgomery as a gorgeous swamp man? It already is tough to swallow, but I give it a try. It goes downhill from there. The plot and characters were constantly changing, with no reason and in the end, the whole thing made no sense. I was so disappointed and frustrated, that I nearly threw it out the window. I will still gladly anticipated the next novel, but I hope it's more worthy of her talent and name.

Summary: Wave of passion collapses towards the end
Review: HIGH TIDE by Jude Deveraux continues her passionate legacy of the Montogomery family with Ace now caught in his own adventure with a Manhatten workaholic Fiona BurKenhalter. They each receive a mysterious letter from Roy Hudson the creator of TV series, Raphael and when he is dead on a boating trip with them, they are prime suspects, unwittingly inheriting his fortune.

HIGH TIDE crescendoes into crests as readers are caught up with the twists and turns of the mystery and impressive is the witty repartee between Ace and Fiona, that saturates the atmosphere with tingling romance and feist enough to enchant. It could have been more - but the tide just breaks - the conversation becomes more banal and the love element flags down at the critical last moment of the book. There should have been more passion, instead I sense desperation; the new characters in the last section just bloomed out of nowhere and the credibility of the mystery was diminishing.

No doubt Jude Deveraux is a fine writer but this book could have ended with a tsunami but instead the energy seemed drain as we see the tide swishes up the shore quietly with the collapse of the rambling plot.

Summary: I stayed up all night to read this book!
Review: I loved this book from the first chapter. It is a departure from her usual books but this one is definitely worth reading. A must for romance fans.

Summary: I stayed up until 3am to finish this book!
Review: This is a must read! The characters were well developed. I loved that they did not like each other at all - in fact hated each other. They definetely took time - and the circumstances that they were under contributed - to fall in love. The mystery was a good one because you couldn't tell exactly what was going to happen. I would have preferred the story within the story to have been better explained. That is the only thing that keeps this from being a ***** (5 stars).

Summary: High Tide
Review: I am a huge Jude Deveraux fan, I have read all of her novels; most exceptional, some good, and a few not-so-good. Unfortunately, this falls into the not-so-good category.

It was as if there were pages that were torn from the book. I would have rather read another 100 pages to get the full story than have to be satisfied with this version.

I would definitely bypass this and read Sweet Liar for a second time!

Summary: This book is great
Review: This book was an extremely good book from Jude Deveraux. It's only and main fault was the fact that with all these nails and maps we got confused. It also had this little problem with the plot it was as unrealistic as they come. What I liked about the book was the fact that at long last we had a heroine who was not short I was getting bored with them she was realisticly tall like a lot of normal people are.And at long last people with normal tempraments you always have these perfect little heroines who are always right and can never do wrong.Fiona was slightly rude and Ace was too but under the circumstances(They were being accused of murder and for some reason the person who was mudered left all his money to them and they couldn't figure out why since they had never met him or each other before.) I think allowances can be made.

Summary: Everyone's Too Harsh
Review: I think everyone has judged this book too harshly especially considering that it is pretty consistent with a lot of Ms. Deveraux's works. If you've read her other novels, you should know that this is a lot better than "The Taming" and "The Conquest." Since when did any romance novel had to be realistic? If this story is farfetched, what about "Remembrance?" Ms. Deveraux has put forth a wonderfully warm and funny addition to the Montgomery and Taggert family. Keep them coming!
