Summary: Captivating wilderness journey
Review: Charity Sinclair is ready to make some major life changes. Leaving boyfriend Jeremy, and their deteriorating relationship behind, Charity purchases a mining claim in the Canadian Yukon and strikes out to pursue her dream adventure. Leaving her job as editor of action and adventure novels at a large publishing firm behind, the call of the Yukon beckons, and Charity's adventure is about to start.

McCall Hawkins, powerhouse CEO in the software industry, is living in self-imposed exile in the Yukon, unable to cope with the loss of his wife and daughter in a car accident four years ago. In the past several months, he has resumed work on a project he was involved with at the time of the accident, and ever so slowly re-emerging in the tech world. Along comes Charity, disrupting his quiet world by banging away on repairs to her property. Call decides to see what the new neighbor is up to, and is unable from that point on to stay out of her life. They get off to a tumultuous start, but the relationship quickly turns passionate. Unknowingly, the past is once again coming back to haunt Call, and after two attempts on his and Charity's lives, Call has to lay it all on the line to keep Charity safe. Once the dust settles, Charity is forced back to Manhattan, leaving the man she knows she loves beyond all others behind. Call still swears never to love again, but will this journey end here?

This wilderness journey captivates, and makes you wish you were there to experience the sights. The balance of romance outweighs the suspense, but not by much. Secondary characters, Maude and Toby add whit and humor, and even a touch of paranormal is thrown in for good measure. True romantics will savor the ending, along with all the events leading up to it. Another great read from this compelling author!

Summary: Well I loved it.
Review: Charity Sinclair is tired of her life in New York, and tired of her non committal boyfriend, Jeremy. When she has the chance to pursue a dream opportunity, mining gold in Alaska, she packs up everything and goes there, hoping to make a new start, and a new life.

The land is wild, rugged, and beautiful. Life is harder, more challenging, but Charity loves it, despite the fact that her next door neighbor, McCall "Call" Hawkins would like nothing better than for her to get lost. At first, the couple is oil and water, but in time they give in to the attraction they've been trying unsuccessfully to deny. He reminds her of every action and adventure hero she has ever read, and Charity makes Call feel things he had thought dead along with his wife and child.

The outside world seems far away, until Call's enemies begin making deadly trouble. Not willing to let another woman he loves die, Call forces Charity to leave both him and her dreams behind. Will her return to New York mean the chance Charity and Call had for a new life be gone for good?

***** In a novel of sweeping adventure and suspense, Ms. Martin catches readers up in a dazzling story. Love shines through on every page, even in the highest danger. Suspense, romance, and a touch of the paranormal all play a part in making this a keeper book. The ending is one that will satisfy the romatic at heart, but all the events that lead to that ending will make you wish it never had to come.

Summary: Kat's Latest Is A Winner!
Review: I loved this latest romance from the talented Ms. Martin! Set in a location that is not given much attention, (Yukon, and Alaska), and containing such topic's like the gold rush, inherited memories, and sizzeling romance, and suspense make this a fast paced, page turning read!

McCall Hawkins has come to the Yukon to heal after the death of his wife and child. He has been hiding for four years and really perfers the peace and quite of his mountain hide-a-way. That is all about to change when Charity Sinclair arrives.

Charity has left everything behind in New York in order to realize her dream of going to the Yukon and mining for gold. She isn't doing it to get rich, but more because she has always felt an unusual draw to the mountains. What she doesn't count on is her cranky but sexy as sin nextdoor neighbor, or her attraction to him or his attitude about her arrival. Well, Charity has come to stay, at least for the 6 months that she set for herself and she won't let Call buy her off any sooner then that! Oh, and she plans on mining for gold, so goodbye peace and quite!

Soon she finds herself being rescued by her sexy neighbor from bears, and a nasty neighbor whom works for her in her little mining operation, and as a result they find themselves fighting a loosing battle with the attraction that they feel for each other. Eventually Call learns to love again, and Charity, well, Charity learns a lot about her past, her present, and gold mining, as well as what it feels like to fall in love totally and completely.

This is not a high suspense novel, suspense is involved but not the driving force behind the story. Still love romance between these two very different people was entertaining and fun. Do yourself a favor and get the book, you won't be disappointed!

Summary: Extremely disappointing
Review: I've never read such a bad book from Kat Martin before. I mean usually her books are really good, quite engaging with farfetched ideas that were interesting and made a certain logical sense. But this time, everything was quite random.
A perfect example of this is Charity's memory inheritance thing. Kat Martin does make a certain kind of logic about it but all the twists and turns made it really complicated and so when they explain the whole thing in the end, I did not understand it at all and didn't even bother trying, because I don't think it was worth it. And I think Kat Martin was confused herself as well because at first, she wrote that Zachary was the younger brother of Call's, but then she said that Zac was older than Call and then she changed her mind one last time at the end. I still don't know who's older yet.
Also, there were too many plots and other character involvement in the whole book. Kat Martin tried to compress so many storylines in one book that it turned out to be quite rushed and the characters unengaging.
So, in the end, all I have to say is that this book was very disappointing and uninteresting. Therefore, if you're a first time reader of romance novels or a first time reader of Kat Martin's, I don't recommend you to start with this one of hers. Instead, try reading Perfect Sin or Innocence Undone, also written by Kat Martin.

Summary: 1/2 Stars - Good, but Forgettable
Review: Really old romance book premise. If you are a fan of Kat Martin, I would read Hot Rain. This is good and entertaining, but it is total mind candy. It goes fast, and you forget it equally quickly. I read this last night, and I already had to review it a bit to remember the plot line.

Charity is bored w/her life, and decides to move to the Yukon to prospect for Gold for 6 mos. She thinks this will give her what she feels she has been missing before she finds the guy to settle down with and have a family. She wants a grand adventure 1st. There is some talk of her 2 sisters looking for the same thing, so we may see their stories in the future.

When she goes to the Yukon, she conveniently bought a plot of land right next to a brooding tall gorgeous guy w/attitude (sound familiar?). Anyway this guy doesn't want her there, but wants her, and also convient, happens to be a retired billionaire. (I really could have handled a millionaire) Of course you can not tell it by the way he lives, he is obviously comfortable, but not to that extent. He is also way moody, (what billionaire isn't) and goes back and forth with the way he feels about Charity.

She is not a wimp, and after finding out that he had sex w/someone before he had her, she makes him sweat it out for 2 weeks, before he get back in her "good graces". Can we say who cares if he got a hummer from someone before they were?

Anyway, it is o.k. KM tries to liven the plot w/a neat little twist of this guy who is trying to kill them, so there are a lot of accidents. Hoky, but a good read. I have not read this much of a romance in awhile, and it was a nice change of pace, but I could not read too many in a row. Overall, this book is a good time filler, and well written.
