Summary: FANTASTIC!
Review: I read this book in two days. I couldn't put it down. The protagonist-Patricia Conley was multi-faceted and the supporting characters also maintained their depth. The story was gripping--beginning with the prologue. I have not read a truly engaging mystery written by an African American since Walter Mosely.

Summary: What a mess!
Review: I thought this was one of the most convoluted novels I've ever experienced.

Summary: What a Winner!!!
Review: I was never a big mystery thriller reader until I read "What a Woman's Gotta Do". This book was excellent. It was entertaining, exhilarating, and educational all in one. I learned so much in that book. I never knew one book could touch on so many subjects, You've got it all. Love, science, technology, racism, astronomy, astrology. It was absolutely ingenious. I've recommended it to at least 10 people since I put it down an hour ago. The first thing I wanted to do after I finished reading it was contact Evelyn and commend her for a job well done. I can't wait until her next novel comes out. My mouth is watering in anticipation. Ms. Coleman, you have outdone yourself on this one.

Summary: An Intelligently Written Thriller
Review: After reading Evelyn Coleman's "What a Woman's Gotta Do", my fascination with thrillers was revived. The character Patricia Conley was intelligently and imaginatively written. She showcased the very essence of black women, who do not necessarily want to rule the world, but has been forced to rule her own world. The main character's strength is amazing but typical for our culture. She is my mother and my grandmother combined. I loved the way Ms. Coleman was able to incorporate so much of our African history in this book and make it all make sense. I am grateful to her for a female lead such as Patricia Conley and for exposing the world of literature to her undying strength. I hope to see more of this character and more thrilling stories from Ms.Coleman.

Summary: Not what I expected
Review: This book was not what I expected. The heroine seemed very contrived. This book left a lot to be desired.

While the story was interesting, the characters were not. The main character hardly appeared capable of functioning in the real (or unreal) world. I found it unbeleivable that she could solve a mystery much less figure that something was wrong.

Summary: Well Written Thrilling
Review: ITCOMS Book Club found it to be thrilling, some found the scenes at the morgue confusing. When describing the Dogon'sbeliefs, it was like reading a texbook. It was unbelievable that Patricia did not go directly to Kenneth in the restaurant and kick his butt. some subplots like her rape seem to neither add or detract from the story, leaving us wondering if we missed something. All in all the members enjoyed the book.

Summary: A page turner but..........
Review: This was a keep you reading and not wanting to put down type of book. I enjoyed Patricia Conley and her policeman friend but the mystical reincarnation, coming back from the grave type of drama is not my cup of tea. Overall the book was great but seeing and talking to the dead is unreal! It almost reminded me of The Hand I Fan With-The character in this book falls in love and makes love with a ghost-come on now I know its fiction but pleassssssssse!

Summary: I recommend it
Review: This story of a black woman's sleuthing held my interest and I would recommend it to people who like a "nineties" woman who takes no s....t. Patricia Conley takes on some mysterious medical issues and gets help from all kinds of people in this readable book.

Summary: Whew, I could not wait to finish
Review: I thought I did not like mysteries, but this book changed my mind. I felt like I was the main character because I was living the adventure with her. Everytime I thought the mystery was over something else happened. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Way to go Ms Coleman

Summary: OUTSTANDING
Review: What a Woman's got to do is definitely the best suspense novel I have read in a long, long time and to think it came from an African-American female writer, I couldn't be more proud. I couldn't put the book down. I have a one year old son and I hired a babysitter to come in on a Saturday afternoon so I could have some peace and quiet to read the book alone in my room. It's been a long since I have truly liked and respected a fictional character. This book made my month, and I look forward to more work by Evelyn Coleman. What are you waiting for? GO OUT AND GET IT!!!!!!!
