Rating: Summary: Read Meade's Resurrection Day, banned in USA! Review: I enjoyed Brandenburg very much. However, I recently finished his latest book, Resurrection Day, published only in Europe, and not in the USA (banned, I hear, because of the controversial and sensitive subject matter!) Resurrection Day is an incredible book, prescient and right up to the minute, about an Al-Qaeda terrorist attack on Washington DC--and one of the best books I've ever read, a must for Meade fans, up there with Snow Wolf, and maybe even better. You have to read Resurrection Day--it's scary, fast paced, and stunning. US readers can order it through Amazon.co.uk. Don't miss it.
Rating: Summary: A Major Dissapointment! Review: I had previously read the other Glenn Meade books "Snowwolf" and the "Sands of Sakkara" and found them to be excellent writings. Brandenburg is not in the same class as the other two writings. The book is is essence about the creation of the Fourth Reich. I had hoped foe something on the caliber of the "Holcroft Covenant". This book does not come close. The book was drawn out trying to get to the point. The action rating in this book was also nearly missing. The heros and villains in the book were also as weak as water. All in all the book was dissapointing. Every author is due one bad book. This is Glenn Meade's. I hope that his next one is better.
Rating: Summary: not the greatest, Review: I have to agree with one other reviewer who said this book was easy to put down. I certainly wasn't compelled to reach for this at every reading session; it didnt intensely hold my interest, and I wouldnt describe this book as a real page-turner. There were so many minor characters too that I found myself flipping back pages to jog my memory as to who was who or what was that person's role again. In any event, the excitement and the action sped up toward the end of the novel. If you like spy stories especially dealing with possible Fourth Reich resurrection plots, you will probably enjoy this in spite of it's shortcomings.
Rating: Summary: Read Snow Wolf instead. Review: I liked Snow Wolf enough to buy the hard bound edition of Brandenburg. What a mistake. The book had all the components to be a great read but stalled within a few pages. I tried to finish this book several times but could not hack my way through.
Rating: Summary: Boring Review: I read this book and like a previous reviewer could not finish it no matter how many times I tried. I do not know how the Amazon thriller editor, Booklist, or Kirkus could write such ss wonderful reviews. It was misleading and dissapointing. Read the Spear of Golgotha by Richard Greenwald THAT was a real thriller. It really makes me wonder why and who makes what decisions as to how much money is put into marketing and editing and chosing what gets published.
Rating: Summary: Read Meade's Resurrection Day, banned in USA! Review: I really do not understand why this book has gotten such bad reviews. I loved this book. I did not want to put it down. The idea of Hitler having a child was quite interesting, and Meade was able to paint a picture of how it could have happened. The book really made you think about the rise of neo-nazis and the possibility of the 4th Reich. I thought it was an outstanding book and I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Very Interesting, A Great Read Review: I really do not understand why this book has gotten such bad reviews. I loved this book. I did not want to put it down. Rating: Summary: A quickly paced, pseudo historical, "futuristic" book Review: I thought the book was a good, fast paced account of what could happen. Is the book really a thriller? I don't know, what is thrilling to you? Do you expect the "good guys" to live and the "bad guys" to die? This book is just a FICTIONAL account of the fourth reich, what could happen, what is happening, what did happen. It is quickly paced, jumping from here to there sometimes, but hey, you got to keep up. It is James Bondish at times. If you have an interest in what the Germans did in WW2, then this is a great book to rethink those memeories. It is not as good as Snow Wolf from a book writing view, but it is better if you know about Germany/Hitler and little about Stalin. They both have historic "stuff", so both are similar, Snow Wolf better written, but Brandenburg more curious to me. I found it a great read, one I could put down, but had to come back to in a while. I actually hate 400 page books that I MUST read in one day. I got another! life. This IS entertainment. I saw a review where a reader said he would look at his wife in a bikini rather than keep reading this book. NO KIDDING? Show me a book on Amazon.com where that wouldn't happen, and you would have seen a future divorced man, or should be.
Rating: Summary: Read Snow Wolf Instead Review: I was dissapointed in this book. I read what I thought was Glenn Meade's first book "Snow Wolfe" and thought it was excellent. I couldn't wait for his new book to come out and when it did I could not understand why it was so boring. No thrill in this thriller! Then, while perusing my favorite used book swap, I encountered an old copy of "Brandeburg", published in England in 1994 by Coronet Books. It was a little different than the "new" Brandenburg, but mostly the same (written by Glen Meade in case your thinking something bad here). So, this was another publishing attempt to recycle an old book into a new one. Now I understand! Why they didn't just mass market it in paperback like everyone else, I will never know!
