Rating: Summary: It has twists, turns and tension through to the last page. Review: I took this book on holiday with me, having never heard of Gilstrap, and now I am a total fan & cannot wait for his next novel. The very first chapter sets the tension and excitement for the entire book, and the second half of the book has constant twists and turns. John Gilstrap brilliantly takes you into the lives of each character, and I particularly liked the way he went back in time to re-live certain critical espisodes of the characters' lives. Although a couple of aspects of the story may be a little flimsey, I could ignore this as I was totally ingrossed. A word of warning, do not read the last couple of charters late at night in bed as I did, because I guarantee you will feel so drained and tensed up that you will not be able to sleep afterwards.
Rating: Summary: BRILLIANT Review: I was given this book as a Christmas gift and I just could not put it down.John Gilstrap is the next best thing to John Grisham.
Rating: Summary: COULD THIS BOOK BE ANY BETTER? Review: I'm not gonna waste your time telling you what I think, after all, I'm just some kid in Ohio. Read the book and I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

I was thoroughly pleased. It is an intriguing story that held my interest from cover to cover. I will be awaiting more from this author
Rating: Summary: At All Costs Review: If you like a book with terrorism , lies and sneaky getaways, this is the book for you. In the book a couple is blamed for blowing up a weapon bunker that they were inspecting for certain materials. They are forced to run and hide in multiple places over a span of fourteen years. If you want to know what happens to this couple, then read the book.
Rating: Summary: Thrilling stuff!!!! Review: If you want my opinion, I think that the novel At All Costs written by John Gilstrap is really exciting in so far as the opening is pretty thrilling and suspenseful. The rest of the novel is a bit too longwinded so the reading sometimes gets very boring. The ending is very nice and also a bit surprising to find out who the guy is that pulls the strings in the background and what exactly his reasons are. Moreover, it is a bit shocking that the state is that powerful in manipulating facts. The novel also is so thrilling because sometimes you donÂ't really know what exactly is going on in some passages. Throughout the whole book you can't help sympathizing with Jake and Carolyn Brighton if they will ever manage to prove their innocence and to make the best of the situation and to make their little son Travis, who is only thriteen years old and really the most innocent person of the novel, feel comfortable. There are many moments when the little family is very close to getting caught by the FBI. These unexpexted twists arouse the readers' tension. So all in all you can say that although some chapters are a bit complex John Gilstrap has a very special way of writing which makes it easy for everybody to understand and sympathize, because the characters speak the language you know from the 'normal' people surrounding you every day.
Rating: Summary: Thrilling stuff!!!! Review: If you want my opinion, I would say that the novel At All Costs by John Gilstrap is not really thrilling, in so far as the beginning is pretty suspenseful but the rest is a bit long-winded. The ending is rather good ,though, because it is very surprising to find out who the guy is who pulls the strings in the background and what his reasons are. In addition to that, it is very well illustrated how powerful the state is in manipulating facts and how unscrupulous. But to me the novel does not seem plausible in so far as it is impossible to escape like they do and I think the plot is too exaggerated. All in all, you can say that John Gilstrap writes in such a way that everybody can easily understand but I would prefer the plot to be a little clearer (there is to much detail). If you want to read a book about misjudgement by the state or arms trafficking it is the right thing for you.

Rating: Summary: An excellent thriller that you can't stop reading Review: In Phoenix, South Carolina, Jake and Carolyn Brighten have lived a middle class lifestyle, raising their teenage son Travis in gentle suburbia. However, the Brighton's idyllic world crashes when the FBI crashes Jake's place of business, seeking illegal contraband. Instead, the Feds find a bigger prize and darken Jake's day. Jake Brighten is actually top ten fugitive Jake Donavon. Fifteen years ago, Jake and Carolyn were the only survivors of an eco disaster that led to the death of sixteen co-workers and a wasteland in the middle of Arkansas. The Donavon grab Travis and hit the road with the FBI in hot pursuit. Travis is stunned as they flee for their lives. His parents claim they are innocent, but he wonders if he is in fact descended from eco-killers? To prove to their son and the Feds that they are innocent, the Donavon return to that eco-wasteland where the evidence exists. However, there are many powerful forces, including the government, who want to silent the couple forever. Like John Gilstrap's fabulous debut novel, NATHAN'S RUN, AT ALL COSTS is an action packed thriller that places an innocent(s) in direct war with near omnipotent groups. This time around, Mr. Gilstrap has a family on the run and once again will keep the reader turning page after page in one bang-bang sitting that constantly releases the air bags. This novel and Mr. Gilstrap's previous tale are must reading for fans of stories like the DIE HARD series. Harriet Klausner
Rating: Summary: Entertaining but predictable Review: It is a good book to read in your spear time. It follows the all-well-known basic lines for a goverment plot. Nothing new, nothing to discover. Some people will think is too simple, others will find it excellent. Is funny though, how the big conspiration always comes down to the last personal showdown head-to-head. I personally had a good time and got entertained for a couple of days. If you like it, you should read "The eleventh commamdment" by Jeffrey Archer, and/or "The General's Daughter" by Nelson DeMille.
