Summary: Good Book With a Lousy Ending
Review: I enjoyed the book although not as much as Robinson's earlier efforts. The ending, however is rushed and has people acting out of character. Without giving it away, I don't mind unusual endings, but they have to hang together with the rest of the book.

Summary: Good story line ruined by this author
Review: Follwoing my read of USS SEawolf, I doubt I'll purchase another book by this author. His representation of all US Navy personnel as racists was offensive. Surely not everyone in the submarine service believes that all Chinese should be working in laundries or as take out delivery boys. It really takes a lot to bug me enough to write a review like this but this guy did it.

I'm also over his repetative use of words like "growled" as in "The plane growled across the sky." Somebody buy this guy a thesaurus.

Summary: Can't Put Down Summer Reading
Review: I enjoyed the last book by the author (Kilo Class), but enjoyed this book even more. It was light reading, but exactly what I was looking for. He was fairly knowledgable about submarine capabilities, and came up with a gripping plot. I will buy his other books.

Summary: Patrick Robinson, what have you done?
Review: I have read all of the books written by Patrick Robinson and have passed them on to family and friends. This latest "USS Seawolf" was great until he (P. Robinson) let down and folded up his characters. Was very disappointed in the way he chose to deal with a strong character in the book. I don't want to say too much about why as that would give away the ending. But do think he needs to, if he is going to have a strong character, keep him strong, not let him all of a sudden just whimp out. This is the only book of his that left me disappointed.

Summary: USS Seawolf
Review: This is the first Patrick Robinson book that I have read and I am not motivated to read any others. The fact that he totally misrepresented the San Diego Zoo makes me wonder about his creditability regarding other information in his story. I realize this is fiction but if you are going to mention a world class site, you should have correct information. His characters were interesting and he did have good story development. There were no low points where you could be inclined to skip pages.

Summary: Pure Saturday matinee, but duller.
Review: I somewhat shamefacedly admit to being caught by the jacket blurbs on this latest effort of Mr. Robinson's and by the dedication to SEALs and special operations. So it was with some hopefulness that I read the book. I had previously attempted his earlier works, but found them so ridiculous that I couldn't go on. In this case after the first few chapters I developed a case of "Oh, come on" followed by "Give me a break!" Like the earlier works, I found this novel to be juvenile and the plot and characters unbelievable. Take for example the XO of the SEAWOLF who is depicted as going to panic stations at the drop of a hat. Not only is he no support at all to the skipper but we're asked to believe he's also some sort of CIA operative? In the first place, nuclear boat crews are very carefully screened and someone with the propensities demonstrated by this character would never be aboard, much less in a position as critical as an XO. But, hey, it's just a novel, right? Another problem is that it is abundantly clear that Mr. Robinson knows very little about the U. S. Navy's ranks or the responsibilities of its sailors and officers. Not only are most of the ranks abbreviated incorrectly, but he also seems to want to use Royal Navy terms for the US job functions. "Captain's writer" instead of "yeoman," for example. I won't even begin to catalogue the inaccuracies with the SEALs, although I did find the idea of a team skipper having another officer as a "bodyguard" particularly annoying. Doesn't anyone read for accuracy before these novels are published? In any event, this is like a kid's Saturday matinee movie, but duller... and too long for what it is. I know that Mr. Robinson will continue to make money with these yarns, but I would suggest that he deal with the Royal Navy and make the characters British, because surely he understands them better, and offer the reading public something more realistic, escapist or not.

Summary: Not Even Close
Review: This book was a great disaster. The plot is completely absurd and the behavior of the sub commander utterly stupid. They drive the sub right into the hands of the Chinese and then the US government just let the Chinese take the sub. This book does not live up to the prior three in the series. What a dissapointment

Summary: Awesome Book, no disappointments here!
Review: I see all the reviews about this book when it came out. Saying it wasnt that good compared to his others. That's is so wrong, this book is just as good, and just as detailed. Go get this book right now if your a Patrick Robinson fan, dont wait! I wanted to read the entire book in one day, thats how good it is

Summary: USS Seawolf
Review: Patrick Robinson is a solid storyteller and his books are hard to put down. His latest novel, gets a bit childish in his writing about Admiral Morgan, however, it is a wonderful book that I highly recommend
