Summary: Great True Adventure/History
Review: Clive Cussler's adventures that he relates in "The Sea Hunters" are as fascinating as any of the fictional adventures in his novels - at least when one factors in that the "Sea Hunters" adventures are true. After vignettes that speculate on the likely final moments of a ship or other item of historical interest, Cussler describes the efforts of NUMA to locate these artifacts. These efforts are alternately dangerous, frustrating, and humorous, and Cussler's descriptions of them are consistently entertaining. "The Sea Hunters" provides a great adventure read, and also serves as a reminder of some forgotten or underappreciated historical episodes.

Summary: A book any Clive Cussler fan would enjoy
Review: "The Sea Hunters" is Cussler's latest book and first autobiography. Each chapter in the book starts with his discription of how the wreck he's searching for occured. He adds to the discription a viewpoint that only the ghosts of the shipwrecks are privy to. It is no secret that he patterns his hero Dirk Pitt after himself, and after reading this book it is obvious there is a great deal of Dirk Pitt in Clive Cussler and vice versa. This book is required reading for any Dirk Pitt or Clive Cussler fan. It has the hair raising adventures of Dirk Pitt, and the real life of Clive Cussler. Missing this book is missing a chapter in the life of Dirk Pitt.

Summary: CLIVE'S ADVENTURES MATCH DIRK'S
Review: A few years ago, I read this marvelous book and wrote Clive Cusler through his agent. (Clive sent a one-page, handwritten reply.) Here's a partial quote from my letter to him ... "Having just read and enjoyed your book, The Sea Hunters, I just wanted to drop you a note. Your search and salvage exploits have been amazing!! The book presented numerous situations and scenarios that were unknown to me. Sections of your book should be used by teachers to make the study of history more interesting. Although some people may criticize your fictional accounts of the incidents presented in your book, the writing is certainly vivid and brings to life a somewhat tedious and dull subject. My only criticism of your book is that it did not include a bibliography, although you do mention a few references throughout the text. I guess I'll just have to go to my local library and start looking for appropriate books on subjects of interest."

I've re-read the book (which he has inscribed and signed) and still find it fascinating. Hopefully, other readers will enjoy it as much as I have.

Summary: Fascinating real-life adventures
Review: Admittedly the thought of a Cussler book minus Pitt was dissappointing, and I decided to skip it. But when my dad bought The Sea Hunters for me, I started to turn the pages and was hooked like always.

While the Pitt stories are too fascinating to be real, these tales of Cussler's real life are truly fascinating. To all the naysayers - this one proves that Cussler's life and writing transcend the cheezy adventures of the Pitt tales. GREAT Reading.

Summary: Fairly decent book. Shows other side of Cussler
Review: As a fan of the Dirk pitt novels, I felt that The Sea Hunters showed another style to Clive Cussler. Though it was not as exciting as his past novels ,this was a good attempt by Cussler to show us another side to his writing. You cannot really compare it to Cussler's other books as it is non-fiction and it is his first attemt at such a work(at least publicly). It was fairly entertaing and a quick read for this fan

Summary: I thought that this book wasn't explicit enough.
Review: As I said in line one I thought this book wasn't explicit enough to suit my needs about the famous shipwrecks that occured hundreds even thousands of years ago. The shipwreck that I was looking for in this book wasn't here and it didn't satisfiy my needs for a massive college report that was due approximately a monoth ago. I failed that class due to your lack of information on the subject that I needed information for. Thanks for NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: Don't Go Changing
Review: At the age of 33, I was beginning to frown on my Cussler addiction as prolongued immaturity (I've read all of his books at least 2+ times). Thank you Clive for setting me straight! The introduction alone reminded me that wide eyed boyhood wonder shouldn't be supressed. As for the rest of the book it does an excellent job of balancing the sense of adventure and fantasy embodied in a shipwreck with cold hard unglamorous reality. If anything this book only convinced me what a unique talent Cussler is at being able to create a mystery and let us revel in the shear joy of it's unravelling

Summary: CUSSLER'S TRUE ADVENTURES ALMOST AS FASCINATING AS PITT'S
Review: Back in 1997, I sent the following to Clive Cussler (to which he responded). It pretty well expresses my feelings about this marvelous book.

I've read all of the Dirk Pitt® exploits, but they certainly don't compare to some of your non-fictional adventures. Dirk's are becoming a bit "over the edge." But who cares. A well-crafted story is what the reading public wants. Dirk Pitt - What a great name for an adventure hero!! James Bond sounds like a sissy name compared to the one you've created.

Summary: This is the life story of all the Cussler Characters!
Review: Before purchasing the above mentioned book I read some of the customer reviews. Most were dissapointed in that they thought this was another Dirk Pitt mystery. Some people never understood what they were reading. I am a Clive Cussler fan, and have been since day one. I have read all thirteen books at least twice, and have been facinated by his tales. My personal favorites are "Vixon-03, and Treasure." I am a writer, not an author, but a writer. I have learned the importance of cliff-hanging your readers. I seldom put a Cussler book down until I have finished it. However, getting back to "The Sea Hunters." If the reader would only look at what they are reading they will meet every standard character ever written in a Cussler/Pitt novel. They are there in real life, and the adventures of each book are present in what Cussler is accomplishing. It is evident they cannot see past the word on the page. My humble suggestion to them is to please look at the book as one of the best action novels of non-fiction Cussler has penned. If I am lucky enough to be published someday, I would like to keep the same thought taught to me by Cussler, and repeated by him in the book. "You can never do enough research." (C Cussler) Read the book and please with an open mind understand: 1 - you first do it because it's there, 2 - It always makes a good story afterward, 3 - you can never do enough research! Somday I hope these ideals will turn me from a writer into an author. Thank you for you time.

Summary: True Archeology
Review: Being an individual who is extemely interested in undersea archeology, I found it to be a fascinating book. Mr. Cussler had a way of making you feel like you were right there or at least watching the various events from a near-by location. I would definately recommend this book to anyone who is interested in TRUE accounts of shipwrecks, treasure hunting, and archeology. You won't be disappointed.
