Rating: Summary: Can I just say where were the editors?? Review: I have never read a book with so many typos and grammatical errors. One must certainly allow for human error even in the publishing of books, but this was just GROSS.I gave this book two stars instead of one because it did hold my attention -- I finished it in two days. But the characters were disappointing. I hate reading books that don't have even one admirable character. And the predictable ending was trite, not "explosive." The good guys (or gals) were no better than the bad when it was all said and done. Ugh.
Rating: Summary: Predictable but entertaining Review: I knew pretty soon into this book who the culprit was, but it was still entertaining...However, I did find that there were a few too many characters to keep straight, and that some of the scenes could have been tightened up a little bit. Overall though, it was a fairly entertaining read; one I would check out of the library before I would buy.
Rating: Summary: Diamond disappoints with this dismal book Review: I read this book because the publicity material compared it to Olivia Goldsmith, one of my all-time favorites. Unfortunately, "The Trophy Wife" has NONE of the humor and humanity of Goldsmith's work. This book is a dud -- I'm not surprised the author is using a pseudonym. The only reason I finished it was because of the promised explosive "surprise ending," but even that was a letdown (I figured it out partway through the book). I love a yummy, trashy summer read, but this book was just a mishmash of unlikable characters and implausible plotting. I must also note that I have never read a book with so many typos; if I'd actually purchased this book instead of borrowing it from the library, I think I would've demanded a refund!
Rating: Summary: The Trophy Wife Review: Kudos to you Kinsey - you are so right. This has to be one of the worst books I've read since "The Hornet's Nest" by Patricia Cornwell (do you suppose???) No wonder the author chose to remain anonymous! I figured out the solution after about 100 pages, but continued to read just to savor its awfullness. The plot is a mishmash and the characterization is schizophrenic.Either this is a first attempt by an already published writer, or the author typed it during a drunken binge, ran spell check and sent it off to the publishers where no one even bothered to edit it. It is a shame that trees are cut down and good writers ignored to produce dreck like this.
Rating: Summary: I have certainly read better thrillers Review: Someone recommended me this novel. It seemed promising at first, and I have to admit that it has some clever moments, but it has missed the mark. The mystery isn't, well, mysterious, for I was able to figure out the outcome sooner than I would have wanted to. The story of a banking executive whose wife has been kidnapped for a ransom of $100 thousand moments before he had intended to leave her for a younger-looking model seems like the perfect plot for a Hollywood film starring Harrison Ford. However, it made for a mediocre read. Need I mention the typos and grammatical errors in this book? I am glad to see that other readers duly noted the structural errors in the book. Are you in the market for a clever thriller? Read Nicci French's Beneath the Skin.
Rating: Summary: Keeps you guessing? I think not. Review: The blub on the jacket cover for this book states that it will "keeping you guessing until the surprise ending" or something to that effect. Maybe if you're 10. I had it figured out not very far into the book. It was rather obvious. The storyline wasn't all that bad, though the characters were hardly appealing. I found I just didn't care one way or another what happened. The other irritating feature was the fact that the editing was VERY SLOPPY. Words were used incorrectly, multiple typos, you name it. It makes me wonder why the author didn't want his/her real name attached to this book.
Rating: Summary: Predictable and TERRIBLE Editing Review: The spelling and grammatical errors were so horrendous in this book that I felt it was a total insult to the reader. No wonder the author wants to remain anonymous! Some scenes were so overwritten that I skimmed many pages until I could see that the story line began moving again. I guess I probably missed even more mistakes. Obviously, someone was asleep at the switch when this book got published. Who is the real author anyway? I need to know so that I can avoid her future books.

Rating: Summary: a satisfying read Review: This book was a very good read. Although the script got alitte tedious, the plot was always interesting. The novel leaves you with a non-predictable ending that leaves the reader satisfied.
Rating: Summary: The trophy for best kidnapper goes to...... Review: This is a pretty good thriller which is extremely exciting in the scenes with Emily and her tormentors. If the book was all like this it would have been five stars in rating easily but the lengthy scenes with Walter and other secondary characters do drag on from time to time giving the book a slightly less over all rating. Great thriller though, highly recommended. Current edition in Australia has none of thesse numerous typos some reviewers are going on about. If they bought books full of typos why did they not return them as they are obviously cheap rip off copies and not originals. Emily Childs, wife of Walter a banker who is at the top of his industry and in charge of billions of dollars of accounts is violently kidnapped. The kidnapper wants one hundred million wired to an account in the Cayman Islands by Monday or Emily dies. If Walter tells the police or his employer (they have a strict policy not to negotiate with terrorists or other extortionists) Emily dies. Even though he was about to dump his wife in favour of his much younger assistant and by following company policy under these circumstances he will more than likely be promoted, guilt and pressure from others plays on Walter's mind to do the right thing and pay off the kidnappers to save his wife's life. Andrew Hogan is an ex cop who left the force because he didn't want to be in anyone's pocket and is the bank's head of security so is the only man Walter can trust to get Emily back. Greed however is creeping into the minds of those holding Emily and she must be found before it is too late.
