Summary: I figured it out too soon!
Review:

I don't know why 'Diana Diamond' didn't use her real name for this book -- unless she feared it might keep us away from her 'real' work.

I didn't much care for this book, as I found nothing compelling about any of the characters. In one way or the other, they were all spoiled by their success, money and possessions. I couldn't even be very sympathetic to Emily, the kidnapped spouse, because she herself was cheating.

One of the characteristics of a crafty mystery writer is his/her ability to keep the reader guessing 'who done it'. In this case, I figured out the 'bad' guy way too soon.

All in all, not a very satisfying read. Too bad, because the premise had promise...just not in THIS author's hands.

Summary: Not your typical thriller!
Review: An excellent read, a thinking persons thriller! Ms. Diamond has done a good job of weaving a complicated plot with complex beliviable chacters. Walter a bank executive is about to give his wife the boot for a younger woman when she is kidnapped. The kidnappers ask for $100,000,000 ransome and this is when the fun starts. You have to read the rest your self but it has a very satisfing ending.

If you like well though out, belivable thrillers, that keep you guessing I also recomend "A Tourist in the Yucatan"

Summary: We know whodunit!
Review: As I've said before a zillion times, when the author and the editor (hah!) don't know their homophones from their telephones, I have a problem concentrating on the story. As the previous customer reported, numerous typos but more just plain wrong usage of words. 'quaffed' a sandwich...quaff refers to drinking. 'poured' over documents..pored. Door 'jam' ..would that be blackberry or strawberry jam? The author refers to an additon to a house as an 'el'...does that mean it's overhead? She had something 'sheered' off. Was it very thin or did she mean sheared as in cut off? You can see how all these errors could distract a person. It's not enough to use spell-check, someone who can actually read and spell and knows the difference in the sounds of words should be editing these frappin books. I'm available.

Summary: Too cliche'
Review: At the onset of reading this novel, I was convinced in my mind that the author would dare not be so cliche'in making the antagonist the mistress. That would seem too common. Boy, was I wrong. As I read the book, I literally found ways to believe that it was someone else who was behind the mayhem. I wish that it were so. I did find the strategies of the two masterminds intriguing, yet I was still bothered by the conclusion. I enjoyed the book to some extent but there must be a reason why it took me five weeks to finish it.

Summary: A Great Book for First-Time Suspense Reading
Review: Before reading, "The Trophy Wife" I wasn't really into suspense novels. But the title made me want to know what this story was all about. Towards the end of the book, you have a good idea who was Emily Child's kidnappers. But at the end, you cheer for her as she breaks free from her egotistic husband.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: An entertaining, quick, easy read...
Review: Emily Childs, the wife of successful bank executive, Walter Childs, is kidnapped and an enormous ransom of $100 million is demanded by a mysterious computerized voice. Of course, the kidnappers order Walter not to involve the police or FBI , or they will kill Emily instantly. Walter, who is in line for the top spot at the bank, seems to care more about his position and his mistress than Emily. And everyone seems to be a suspect in the kidnapping, including Walter, his beautiful young mistress, Angela Hilliard (also a bank executive), the security manager, and other officers at the bank.

Although none of the characters are particularly endearing or easy to identify with, the plot held enough intrigue and strange twists to keep me involved until the bizarre but satisfying ending. Of course, it wasn't particularly realistic or plausible, but that's not necessarily what I look for in a mystery. A mindless, entertaining, quick, easy read.

Summary: Good story, too bad I can't say the same for the editing
Review: I bought The Trophy Wife based its recommendation as a great beach read and, on a recent vacation, it proved to be just that. The plot was complex enough to hold my interest and the characters were well developed. The ending was truly a surprise. I must comment however, on the typos as mentioned by a previous reviewer - they were frequent and distracting. There were so many mistakes that I began to wonder if they were made purposely to throw the reader off track as to the true identity of "Diana Diamond" (what serious mystery writer would allow publishing of such a poorly edited book!). If you plan to buy it, I recommend waiting for the paperback edition.

Summary: Delicious!
Review: I don't normally read mysteries, so it's probably easier tofool me than a devoted mystery fan. With that disclaimer, I reallyenjoyed this book and thought the ending had a very nice twist to it.Did I see the ending coming? If I had wanted to, perhaps, but I wascontent to let the writer do her job without trying to puzzle it outtoo much in advance. I thought the characterizations and plot wereboth good, though the characters--particularly the male ones--were notparticularly sympathetic. In fact, I think the writer has a strongfeminist bent, which I appreciated, but male readers may not. Inshort, a fun read.

Summary: Predictable and TERRIBLE Editing
Review: I found this book to be too predictable. Like another reviewer said, it was hard to feel sympathy for the wife because she was painted as somewhat negative from the beginning. Even though the story leaves a lot to be desired, the editing is absolutely AWFUL. The typos and other mistakes were extremely distracting. Otherwise, I would have given the story a marginal two stars.
