Rating: Summary: Complimenting and interesting. Review: Keeps you on the edge of your seat. Has a lot of characters and is a little hard to keep up with. Has plenty of sex and violence to keep any reader reading it. Gets slow in some parts, however, has a very well written plot and is pretty funny as well.
Rating: Summary: Up all night with this one Review: Loved the book, the characters are easy to become attached to and the plot is a new one. I especially like how he fills in details as the story goes, not giving away all the background info during the first chapters. I stayed up till 6AM twice to finish it. Loved it, but I don't think my roommate or my grades for that matter appreciated it.
Rating: Summary: A suprisingly intricate plot. Review: Maxim surprised me with his ability to provide enough surprises without making the story sound unbelievable. The story, while somewhat annoying in the middle, comes through with a fantastic finale scene fit for the Silver Screen.
Rating: Summary: An Interesting Above Average Thriller Review: Maxim writes well and I enjoyed this book. Although this novel is a "thriller" by definition, the parts of Maxim's writing that I enjoy most are not the action parts of a book. It is the character deveopment, the location descriptions, and the love story that I really like. The author does an excellent job with those things in this novel. Just the right length too; not stretched out nor too thin. You will enjoy Maxim's other books if you like this one. I did and do.

Rating: Summary: Geographic accuracy Review: Maybe this is nitpicking, but the White Mountains and Black Mountain Ski Area are both in New Hampshire - not Maine (although the White Mountains National Forest does extend over the border into Maine). I did, however, enjoy the suspense & fast pace of this novel.
Rating: Summary: Counterfeit prescription drugs Review: So you know, everything The Shadow Box says about counterfeits is absolutely accurate. Ifyou think it's hard to believe that up to half of all drugs sold in this country are bogus, consider that the Gov'ts of both Spain and South Africa have acknowledged that over 70% of all prescription drugs sold in their countries are counterfeit. In Spain, even Tylenol is widely counterfeited. ...Re Sunboy's damning critique, it made me wonder whether he works for a drug company. But I guess not. If he did, he'd know how to spell "fraudulent." JRM S
Rating: Summary: Maxim's best Review: Super development of admirable characters (who you wish you knew)with brilliant story development, thrills, surprises and emotional grip. I've read all of JRM's fiction -- even some that are difficult to find in print -- and this is my favorite.

Rating: Summary: Good characters and well-paced action Review: The Shadow Box is a fast-moving, well-written thriller. Unfortunately, it runs out of steam a bit toward the end. But this is stilla great beach or late nite read and Maxim is a talent to watch
