Summary: Gripping, impossible to put down!
Review: John R. Maxim's Time Out of Mind is a terrific tale that holds you until the last unbelievable moment. It makes you question your beliefs about spirituality and life after death. The action is a bit slow in the beginning, but if you hold on, it will give you the ride of your life!

Summary: The Best of His Books
Review: Maxim has created an incredible blend of time-travel fantasy, ghost story, and murder mystery in this book. The story is fascinating, the two heroes are more than likeable, and the unfolding of events had me up until two in the morning! The author's research is impeccable. I was very impressed with the smooth transition from Victorian to modern dialogue and thought processes. This is my favorite book by Maxim so far.

Summary: TEN FIVE-STAR REVIEWS! GET THE IDEA?
Review: One of my new all-time favorite stories. John R. Maxim is one of the best low-visibility authors around, and this is his best book thus far. New York City in the 1980s, or is it the 1880s? A nicely researched and very well written account of relationships over the course of a 100-year timeline. Love, murder, intrigue, adventure. This book has it all and everything's tied together nicely by Maxim's deft hand. A great book!!!

Summary: Serendipity!
Review: Serendipity - an unexpected pleasant occurrence. That's this book for me. I had hoped for a standard thriller, having never
read this author before. What I ended up with was a book that had me totally hooked in the first 10 pages. Followed by intricate plotting, intelligent observation and real excitement. I am an instant fan and will be trying his other works.

Summary: The Bannerman series continues with more high adventure!
Review: The lethal but lovable characters of the Bannerman series again try to 'go straight' with unpredictable results. Maxims refreshing plotlines continue in this book with a mix of fast paced suspense and spirituality that entertains while provoking thought.

Summary: A thoroughly engrossing masterpiece!
Review: This book is one of my all-time favorites. It combines excellent characterization with a unique plot and plenty of suspense. I'd enjoy hearing from other readers who loved this book. A couple other books similar to this are Time and Again by Jack Finney and The Mirror by Marlys Millhiser. -- Jackie Tortorella

Summary: Gripping
Review: This book was gripping from the start. Maxim does an excellent job of bringing historical characters to life. From the coniving Jay Gould to the gung ho Teddy Roosevelt. With very rich descriptions of late 1800's New York City.

From the start we cannot figure out if John Corbin is one person, two people, or many people. We do not know if there are ghosts haunting him or if he has a combination of gene heredity and ESP.

There is an amazing barroom brawl scene where Tilden and a bruiser go at it and savagely beat each other but still address each other as gentlemen. That was a piece of amazing writing!

If you can find this one get it!

Summary: One of the few books I've ever read twice!
Review: This is one of the best books I've ever read. I very rarely read a book twice, but I would like to get a copy of this so I could read it every few years. A fascinating story of a man's travel back in time to the early 1900's in New York City. Also of interest to baseball fans would be the references to the early New York teams. History buffs will enjoy references to actual persons of the time, such as Jay Gould and Teddy Roosevelt. Very enjoyable!
