Summary: Disappointing!
Review: I was thoroughly disappointed with the pace of the book until it got about halfway through. What bothered me even more, as a tv journalist was the way Dana's bosses gave her carte blanche to go flitting around the world on the thin leads she had...and her half of a record-setting ratings newsteam! The other thing that bothered me was how she brought Kemal to the US from Sarajevo and seemed to ignore him until too late. I would think her "investigative skills" would've made her question why a usually hyperactive adolescent all of a sudden took afternoon naps! If Sidney thinks the reading public is this naive, maybe he should hang up his keyboard.

Summary: Improbable, but entertaining
Review: This fast-paced book centers on heroine, Dana Evans who is a news anchor for a TV station in Washington D.C. She interviews the last remaining member of a prominent, philanthropic, political family. Thoroughly charmed by him, she is horrified when he dies shortly after the interview. She decides that it is highly unlikely that his death or the deaths of his family members were accidental, although they were designed to look that way. She begins investigating and flies all over the world, becoming embroiled in international intrigue and being betrayed by people she considers her closest friends and allies. She is in the process of adopting a 12-year-old son and one wonders about a woman who would abandon him to a new nanny as often as she does in the book. Also, it seems unlikely that she would so generously encourage her handsome fiance to tend to his ex-wife during her bout with breast cancer. Despite some obvious flaws, this is an entertaining book with attractive characters and exotic settings.

Summary: Unlimited Intrigue
Review: Picturesque scenes, along with unblemished theatrics, describes Sidney Sheldon's latest offering, The Sky Is Falling. In this novel, Sidney Sheldon takes readers from the beauty of Paris France, to the exciting throws of Italy, to the cold democracy of Russia, back to the United States in this novel of heart pounding suspense. It is a book of suspicion and fear, mixed with compassion and warmth. If you are looking for a novel that will take you around the world, while giving you a dose of intrigue and fear, then, this book is for you. It certainly worked for me!

Summary: Oversalted Broth
Review: Sheldon's latest serving comes up empty. His soupy tale is at best a broth, and way oversalted. It seems as if Mr. Sheldon kept trying to make his formula more interesting by adding more and more to it, but he left out the meat and potatoes. Don't waste 4 hours reading this if you are looking for anything substantial.

The only reason I gave 1 star is because I was impressed with how he handled Rachel's relationship to Jeff.

The lesson we should all learn from this book is heed the warning.

Summary: Classic Sidney
Review: In "The Sky is Falling", Sidney Sheldon returns to the plot twisting mastery of his earlier books. The last couple books seemed a little flat to me, but this one was a great read. Leave it to Sidney to take us places the ordinary traveler can't go!

Summary: SAVE THE WORLD
Review: I HAVE BEEN A READER OF SIDNEY SHELDON SINCE THE OTHER SIDE OF MIDNIGHT AND HAVE ALWAYS ENJOYED THE TWISTS AND TURNS OF THE PLOTS.DANA WAS A BIT NAIVE TO TRUST THE HUDSONS SO READILY.I ALSO QUESTIONED THE CONVIENCE OF GETTING A SITTER SO QUICKLY SO SHE COULD GO RUNNING ALL OVER THE GLOBE TRYING TO SOLVE THE MURDERS.USUALLY, I DON'T PICK "WHO DUN IT" BUT IN THIS NOVEL I WAS CORRECT, I STILL LIKED THE BOOK AND FINISHED IT DURING THE COURSE OF 1 DAY.

Summary: Not So Great :o(
Review: i have only read three books by him. The others were terrific, but this one was just lacking something that is crucial to make it good. It was a page turner alright, but I was ready for it to end and still had half of the book to read. It also confused me some of his usage of unfamilar terms and words. If you have never read a book by this author I would skip this one and pick another.

Summary: Beautifully written
Review: Well done Mr Sheldon...You're still number one Once more you made the way to force me to finish your book in one day... Good luck and please do write - not one but thousand other books...

Summary: A cool read
Review: I think this one was great, as most other Sheldon's books; one that I could not put down. As some of you may be aware, the main character, Dana Evans, has once appeared in previous Sheldon's work: The Best Laid Plans. I have to admit that this book is not my favourite from Sheldon, but you won't be disappointed.

Summary: A continued downhill slide for Sidney Sheldon
Review: The man who brought us _Rage of Angels_ and _Master Of the Game_ seems to have lost his touch in recent years. Unfortunately, his newest book, _The Sky is Falling_ is no different. Rife with inconsistencies, one is lead to wonder how much Mr. Sheldon's book have become merely formulaic, relying on his name and publishing contract rather than realistic and well planned characters that fit with a carefully planned plot.

A primary example of this lack of attention to character is the main character's job-- she seems to be an international superstar reporter who also does the local 6 and 11 o'clock news for a FOX-like station. The entire storyline takes its cue from her job, but the reader never finds out how, or why, her particular (and very unique) position in the media is possible.

Beyond factual improbabilities, Mr. Sheldon leaves almost all of the motivations and understandings of the characters to the reader's imaginations. His strong, career-minded female main character-- a woman who has reported from the front lines-- is naive almost beyond belief. Even after she knows the source of all evil in the book, it never occurs to her to question the motivations of those she has been introduced to by this person, nor does she show any of the common sense fear and caution that would seem natural after attempts on her life and the discovery that she is bugged. This lack of fear and caution cause a man to be killed, and this woman of such intense compassion (the reader is told) that is shows in her news broadcasts and gains remarkable ratings, this woman never shows remorse or feelings of guilt.

The plot is motivated by a series of unlikely and uninspiring plot devices, the predictability of which cause a reader to groan with disappointment. What is missing here is a book whose plot flowed with its characters to genuinely hold a reader's interest. Only so much can be gained from hinting at the Kennedy family.

If Mr. Sheldon was attempting to write a fast-paced novel for readers who refuse to engage a book on any level, he has succeeded. Unfortunately, if Mr. Sheldon was attempting to write a novel that lives up to his proven ability, and one that deserves to be on the bestseller's list for its own merits rather than the coattails of its author, he has failed miserably.
