Rating: Summary: The Master of Suspense does it again Review: The Master of Suspense, Sidney Sheldon has done it again. I have read each of his novels at least five times and you would think I would be able to figure out where he is going with a plot. Wrong!! Every time he is able to hook me within the first two pages and keep me hooked throughout the entire novel. I read the book in two days and loved every minute of it. I highly reccomend this book and do not worry about being bored because it will not happen.
Rating: Summary: Disappointing Review: I have read all of Sheldon's novels and this is like no other. It was too predictable and the story line flat. Usually he introduces and elaborates on more characters, whereas this book focuses on one main character who has a boyfriend with whom she communicates mainly via phone. (Why did she have that boyfriend anyway .. it was an unnecessary distraction in the book.)
Rating: Summary: displeasure Review: This book starts off fine with setting the plot and the story into the mmod, but as the story progresses, the all too perfect character who seems to be super-human with her intelligence learns some lessons in live. Then after the climax, he makes the story short, ands silly. He could have at least introducted more characters rather than generalizing everything in a few pages. He tries to keep the mystery unfolding, and right at the end, you figure that this is not a book to be in your collection. I have read all his books, but this caught me by surprise. I would have given 5 stars to most of his books, but this. no way.
Rating: Summary: The Sky Is Falling Review: This is unlike Sidney Sheldon's other novels. I found this flat and very predictable. A quick reading book, it left me with the feeling "is that all there is to it". I'm certainly glad this isn't the first Sidney Sheldon novel I've ever read or I may not have picked up any of his earlier novels.
Rating: Summary: TERRIBLE! Review: Although Sidney Sheldon is a millionaire from this style of writing, I didn't think that he was such a bad writer. I tried a couple of his books when I was 17, thought they were ok, and tried this one 10 yrs later, what a waste of paper! I am aware that Sheldon has to put the gorgeous young bimbette as the heroine, but this one takes the cake. Dana Evans is a sensational TV journalist (she is probably all of 14) and has just recently acquired a young orphan boy from his war-torn country. Over the past few yrs, a very wealthy and famous family has had its members taken out, in different, but tragic circumstances and Dana, being the clever vixen that she is, is the first person to see that there might be a link. So Dana sets out with her man Jeff (equally as young, successful and gorgeous) and crosses different countries trying to figure out what is going on with the famous Winthrop family, meanwhile Jeff is playing doctor and nurse with his ex-wife (a model, of course!) who has fallen tragically ill and while Dana is jettsetting, she fails to realise that her poor orphan boy, who is a model for ADD kiddies everywhere, has suddenly become very placid, polite and downright lovely young man, when left in the hands of the babysitter!!!!! This is such a bad bad novel, but it would make a good made-for-TV thing that would be on a Tues night, but I don't think that I would be watching it! I am surprised that there are people out there that like this book and what is even more surprising is that Mr Sheldon has made squillions from writing crap like this, oh well, I suppose there is hope for all budding writers.
Rating: Summary: Did Not Put Much Effort Into This One Review: THE SKY IS FALLING BY Sidney Sheldon His standard book with a main character a female, this time a TV journalist who adopted a 12-year boy with one arm while in Sarajevo? She spent the book unraveling a family murder mystery of a US family that took her from Germany, through France to Russia. Of course, she became the hunted one during the adventures. Another female with cancer gave a good support role in the book. I like to read Sidney books, because you know what you will get and they don't stretch the mind-just good entertainment.
Rating: Summary: Total disappointment Review: I used to be his fan, but this book really disappoints me. The plot has obvious holes and the only explanation I can find is that the author just wrote it, didn't bother to read it twice and published it. To give you an example in the book, the russia spy risked his life to show the American journalist the neclear secret and begged her to smugged him abroad. He was killed. But days later, his brother miraclously went to US and even bombed the bad guys out of the sky for revenge. Gee, why not asking his brother for help in the first place? Sheldon has other good books. Don't waste your money and time on this one!
Rating: Summary: Predictable, but you gotta love Sidney! Review: I have read all of Sidney Sheldon's books because I love the twists throughout his books and the ironic endings. But this book kind of disappointed me because I figured out the ending about half way through. I felt the same about his last book (with the schizophrenic lead character). However, I will be ordering his next book when it comes out and hoping for the best.
Rating: Summary: Not up to par Review: This was definitely not up to Sheldon's usual standards. The book had too many coincidences (like how Dana kept getting interviews with all the people she needed at just the right time and how she spent zero time in the office and all her time out chasing down a theory on company time and expense). Characters were introduced, described and then never seen nor heard from again. And the intensity of this book just never reached a point where I felt really interested in what was going to happen in the end. I didn't become attached to the characters and didn't feel like I knew enough about them to care. An easy read, but not one that kept me up all night.
Rating: Summary: It's almost like a diary Review: I joined my voice with those who said that Sheldon could have written it much better. I think the devlopment of the characters is not convincing at all. They seem clearly unreal. For example, the channel boss who always lets Dana take a leave. Dana's lover whose character is unbalnced. Only Kemal, the adopted orphan, is well developed and can give you a sense of emotions. The events are extreemly very fast. The first paragraph Dana is in the house; the second one Dana is in Moscow, France or Italy. It really looks like a diary. This makes the plot so predictable. It could have been better, but the pace of the story makes it so. Probably, Sheldon didn't want to make the novel longer. In my personal opinion, it was the big mistake which lead to the negative points I pointed out.
