Rating: Summary: I got an advanced copy of this book. Do not bother!!! Review: Mary Higgins Clark can't need the money. I thought the Lottery Winner was awful. Then she wrote The Christmas Box and I thought "Yikes, what drivel!. This NEW Holiday book is FAR and away her worst book and that is a distinction in of itself.
Rating: Summary: Disappointing Review: Mary Higgins Clark has become one of my favorite authors. Everytime she gets a new book out I can't wait to read it. I'm afraid I can't say that about All Through The Night. I was extremely disappointed. I was looking forward to a page turner. I wanted to read a murder mystery, a story that involved suspense and surprise. This book had none of them. I had no desire to finish the book. Books with the characters Alvirah and Willy just don't seem to be Clarks strong points. She needs to stick to her suspenseful novels. I love her murder mystery books. This book I just finished was bad. I didn't like the love story part. I found the mystery part of the book way to easy to figure out. The whole story line wasn't good. I missed the suspens and excitment. I usually can't wait to find out what happens next, in this book I could have cared less. After the first few chapters of the book I got bored. The whole drug dealer picking up the baby and then the old lady and the will, I just could tell that this book wasn't going to be good. I knew right away that the couple who had the will were the bad guys. I also figured out that the lost baby and her mother were going to be reunited. It was all so easy. Mary Higgins Clark should stick to writing stories like her Loves Music, Loves to Dance. She needs stories filled with murder and drama. All Through The Night was a big disappointment to me. I just hope that her next book is a whole lot better.
Rating: Summary: Another book by Mary Higgins Clark that you can't put down! Review: Mary Higgins Clark has done it again. "All Through the Night" was a wonderful book. I am a young reader who likes suspenseful books and this one satisfied my taste. It kept me on the edge of my seat during school while I read intensively in the last chapters, hoping that Stellina was reunited with her mother. Some faithful readers of Mary Higgins Clark did not care for this book, but I think it was a great suspense novel and one of the best I have read!
Rating: Summary: No Need to Stay Up All Through the Night Review: Mary Higgins Clark should return to the style which made her famous. There is no twist, no suspense, no murder. Extremely predictable. If you want a human interest story, this is it. If you want suspense, look elsewhere.
Rating: Summary: The spirit of Christmas and family values are superb here. Review: Mary Higgins Clark struck gold with this story which combines the spirit of Christmas and family values. Although its ending is predictable, the readers is still compelled to read on. Anyone who is looking for a book that offers a touch of suspense, without the violence, should definitely read this one!
Rating: Summary: IT'S TIME TO SPRAY THE LYSOL! THIS ONE'S A STINKER! Review: This book is a stinker. It really is. Abandoned child, church theft, rotten selfish people who treat that child like Oliver Twist -- some holiday cheer! I've seen happier stories on the evening news! I like Mary Higgins Clark, but not this book. It is stupid and implausible. I didn't like the way the baby was abandoned and the whole story was a trite cliche. It really was. It was never explained how Alvirah "just happened to appear" when the foundling's mother "just happened back into Manhattan" to try to find the child, 7 years later. Folks, this story is just a trip into dementia. It is ridiculous, insults your intelligence and is just downright stupid. Get out the Lysol and the Glade -- this book really stinks. I think it would make good fertilizer or, if you wnat to include it in the holiday scheme, throw it into your fireplace with the Yule Log. This book is really lousy.
Rating: Summary: Thought provoking... Review: This book is very thought provoking. I found it to be an easy read. Of the author's other books, this does not rank very high.
Rating: Summary: A great holiday mystery, uplifting but not saccharine Review: This book kept me wondering how the mystery would unravel and had an uplifting holiday spirit, but it wasn't syrupy sweet. Another good read from the "queen of suspense."
Rating: Summary: A Great Christmas Mystery Review: This is a fantastic read. Short, but one of her best. Two sub-plots that do not hinder the other, tied together by a little girl named Star. The whole setting is easy to believe, so you can easily let yourself flow with the story. And it does flow; you will not wish to put it down. There are a couple things that are just too convient. But I guess you would need a much longer book to fit everything in. A good read for Christmas.
Rating: Summary: Page-turning Review: This is a first-rate suspense novel (the best since Craig Furnas's THE SHAPE) but it is more than that: as if Charles Dickens decided to write a supense novel, with all his sentiment, etc. It's a perfect novel to keep you up at night, as well as get you in the holiday mood.
