Summary: Gideon...God's loving soldier or a mediocre novel?
Review: First of all- There is not any relationship (or at least from what I saw) between the biblical story and this novel. No fires consuming food or 300 soldiers destroying large armies. What you do have is half of a good novel.... yes half. The first 250 pages are very compelling and shows the makes of a great read. The pages turn with great ease at first, but then it happens. You realize that things just don't seem to add up... Maybe it was just me but at the end of the novel of was left scratching my head wondering what-in-the-world just happened. Things just didn't make sense. I know thrillers usually have unexpected endings, but they usually have logic behind the plot twists. In Gideon- the plot twists just come out of no where and ... well...they left you wondering. However, I'll give it three stars on the strength at which the book starts. My suggestion? Read the first 250 pages and write your own ending.

Summary: One of the Best Reads of my Life
Review: I bought this book at the Rome airport on my way back to New York City. I had only minimum knowledge about it and picked it because I did not want to read the latest gimmicky Clancy novel. I started reading this book on the plane before take-off and before I knew it, 9 hours later, while waiting for my luggage at Kennedy airport, I was still reading it. Very few books have every kept me in its grip like this before. Very, very powerful read. Another good book is The Buddah from Brooklyn. I read that too and it is eqaully spellbinding.

Summary: Fair Enough
Review: "~I read a lot of thrillers, and I'd rate this one as mediocre to good. The story is compelling, especially at the beginning, but by the middle, you're pretty sure how it's going to end. It is just a matter of how many bodies will pile up on the way to the conclusion."~ that allowed our protagonists to stay alive while pursuing the truth were pretty lame.

Summary: Breathtaking thriller
Review: Lots of suspense, surprises, and the chase. Keeps you on the edge most of the way. Can find no fault other than the suspense early was so strong that the finale was just a touch disappointing. Nonetheless, if you enjoy thrillers, Gideon is just plain hard to beat. READ IT!

Summary: Fast read == with a message
Review: I bought this book based on a recommendation from a fellow booklover. She raved about it and hasn't steered me wrong yet, so I figured == here we go again, why not? This book grabbed me from Page 1 of the Prologue and kept me intrigued to the end. I really enjoy the authors' style, entwining flashbacks with in-the-moment scenes. And perhaps what was most enjoyable was the truly, of-the-moment, not-so-hidden, message beneath it all. I can't say "very 90's" anymore, but let me say it gave me pause. This is a book that keeps your attention, is written realistically without burdening you with fluff and an overabundance of adjectives and unrealistic dialogue, while keeping you involved. I highly recommend it and hope the author team follows up with another quality book of this style.

Review: Just a few words... Great storyline, kept you involved throughout until the end.

Summary: Gideon
Review: This is an excellent mystery, with twists and turns throughout. Neither my husband nor I have read a mystery quite this spell-binding in awhile. While some mysteries give you lots of hints as what is to come, this one only tweaks at the numerous possibilities, and some twists are a fascinating surprise. Quite wonderful.

Summary: A roller coaster ride!
Review: I'm glad I picked this book up before reading any of the reader reviews posted here. I enjoyed the whole book (concept, charecters, plot twists). Yes, it is a fast read but I disagree with the posters who have complained about the writing style. I was hooked from the first page and I am looking forward to future books by these two.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Much promise, never lived up to the first few chapters.
Review: Good beginning, but spiraled down from there. Wish I'd waited on the paperback. Very predictable and very immature.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Waste of time and money.
Review: I would rate this book 0 stars, but it wouldn't let me.

Figuring out that Russell Andrews is a pen name for two guys was the book's biggest challenge. The narrative is trash. The story is cliche. And the dialogue - who talks like this? How did this get published? The disclaimer on a pack of Marlboros is more gripping.
