Rating: Summary: Compassion and horror Review: Loved the book, couldn't put it down. I loved the references to places in Boston that I remember well. It reminded me some of Robin Cook's books, which I love. Amazing ending.
Rating: Summary: Wow! Review: Loved the book, couldn't put it down. I loved the references to places in Boston that I remember well. It reminded me some of Robin Cook's books, which I love. Amazing ending.
Rating: Summary: Just Loved the Book! Review: My book club picked this novel because we thought the description of the title character was unusual. We read a lot of mysteries and thrillers. The book really lived up to expectations. I loved that it was a fast read, but I also found the characters very compelling. The book was clever and unusual, something we don't see all that much. We were all totally surprised by the ending. I can't wait for the next in the series.
Rating: Summary: A truly female detective Review: This book was a thrilling ride the whole way. The title suggests gore, and that suggestion was amply fulfilled. The thrills and bumps in the ride kept me guessing. But what I really appreciated was the character of the female protagonist. Too often, the "new" female detective is a hard-boiled, isolated, standard male detective in a skirt. But this one has connections, relationships, and feelings that really suggest a woman. She doesn't really operate like a lone wolf, but someone who knows and cares about other people. This makes it a little harder to put her in the "final jeopardy" needed for the last chapter, but Stiefel pulled this off admirably. Quite a first effort.
Rating: Summary: Wow, what a start! Review: This is a book you have to read..and read again. To read a book from a first time author this good amazes me. Vicki can keep up with the big guys ... She has caught us and caught us again....with that ending..........and all that is in between... I am an avid book reader and Vicki is awesome, as is Tally!! Looking forward to the next one!!
Rating: Summary: Body Parts is a page turner Review: Vicki Stiefel spins a real thriller here. The story is full of sudden turns, startling events, shock, surprise, tension, danger. There's a totally unexpected explanation for everything that happens -- and it all fits together beautifully.I loved the Boston setting, I loved Tally, and I loved the writing. Five stars, at least.
Rating: Summary: A Suspenseful Tour de Force Review: Vicki Stiefel's BODY PARTS is a welcome addition to the Boston crime fiction scene. Stiefel has the psychological thriller down so well you might think she inventied it. An original, brilliant novel of the human experience worthy of anything James M. Cain could have done. --Andrew McAleer, Editor CRIMESTALKER CASEBOOK, author DOUBLE ENDORSEMENT (www.crimestalkers.com)
Rating: Summary: Boston's Crimefighter Review: Vicki takes the reader on a wild ride through Boston in her search to prove the innocence of one of her clients in her lastest book, BODY PARTS. Vicki creates characters that you can easily identfy with. Tally Whyte has the knack to always be at the wrong place at the right time. Easy reading that you won't want to put down til the end. Can't wait to read another of her books!
Rating: Summary: Great New Book by Great New Author Review: What can I say? I loved this book! The characters--gotta love that Tally!--are so well-developed that I probably will find myself looking for them next time I'm in Boston. Great plot that kept me up at night. I kept telling myself, just one more chapter... Dynamic writing, real-life dialogue, a colorful cast of characters, and plot twists and turns that kept me guessing until the very end are just a few of the reasons I've put the next Stiefel book on my "must buy" list.
Rating: Summary: Fast read. Stiefel does the job. Review: Why did I like this book so much? It was a fast read and Stiefel knows her way around dialogue. On my wife's recommendation, I gave the book a shot. It got me from the first page. The plot was complicated enough to keep me interested, but not too crazy that it didn't make sense. This one is a keeper.
