Rating: Summary: We WON'T meet again Review: Having read all of Mary Higgins Clark's previous novels, I have to conclude that Mary has lost her touch. We'll Meet Again must have been written in a weak week-end when Mary had nothing else to do. The amnesia plot never gets explained, and the fact that this entire story takes place in 10 days is totally unbelievable. And finally...[plot spoiler removed]
Rating: Summary: A struggle to read Review: This was the first Mary Higgins Clark novel that I have read after she was recommended to me - I won't bother reading any of her other books as I found this book tough to get through. I kept thinking that if would improve but it never did. It was such an unbelieveable plot and the ending wrapped up so quickly that some questions were left unanswered.
Rating: Summary: Fine until the end Review: I enjoyed this book until the final few chapters. I didn't feel she "wrapped" it up with enought details to explain important parts of the book. Could someone please explain how/why Molly was covered in her husband's blood; what exactly happened to her that she didn't remember events from that night; why wasn't the statue ever dusted for prints...? I skimmed the book for answers to these questions upon completing it, but came up empty handed. Maybe I overlooked them. Could anyone shed some light? Thanks.
Rating: Summary: Hang In There -- It Gets Better! Review: As a member of the newly formed book club, "The Final Word Literary Guild" I was forced to read this book. If you've ever watched a movie with a slow start and wonder why you're watching it only to be totally surprised and enthralled at the end, that's the effect reading "We'll Meet Again" will have on you. A slow and almost sleepy beginning with too many characters but a knock out ending -- well worth the wait.
Rating: Summary: Never again Review: Well, she's improving. I once read a novel by this woman that used the word "fisted" obsessively.. as in "she fisted her hands on her hips". I mean, this term appeared in a slightly different sentence every few pages to describe her female protagonist...throughout the entire book! I found this so unbelievably distracting and annoying, that I actually quit paying attention to the plot, which was actually pretty good, and became somewhat obsessed myself with "is she REALLY going to do it AGAIN? ". I don't like turning nouns into verbs or vice versa (i.e. calling a book a "read")so that was part of it. But really, I have never seen a major author do such a thing before. What I mainly want to know is: HOW DID THIS GET PAST HER EDITORS? I read this book mainly to find out if she got over her fit or whatever it was, and I was relieved to find out that she had.
Rating: Summary: Mary Higgins Clark delivers again!!!!! Review: In my opinion, the best mystery writer ever! As in all of her books, the characters and plot are sensational. Never a dull moment and as always, a surprise ending.
Rating: Summary: Doesn't really live up to Clark's standards. Review: I feel there are many other books by her that are MUCH better. This one was difficult to begin and the only part that drew me to the novel was the very ending. This is the only book of hers that has not currently won any prizes...it's for a good reason!
Dommage, on était habitué à mieux.
Rating: Summary: Very suspenseful thriller. Review: A real page turner for me. It's not often that I find a book that glues my eyes to the pages, but this is definetely one of them. Good job, MHC!
Rating: Summary: My first Mary Higgins Clark but not my last Review: I truly enjoyed this book. What a tremendous story. The characters were perfect and the issues and relationships were quite strong. This crushes my "favorite" Patricia Cornwell's Black Notice. Pat has gone down hill of late.I would highly suggest this book. I loved the Fran character.
