Rating: Summary: SUSPENSE AND MYSTERY Review: Mary Higgins Clark does it again with another book that promises to surprise the reader with the turn of every page. The characters are wonderfully developed, and the author carefully reveals the various secrets of each character's pasts. This novel also goes behind the scenes of a hospital that also has a few secrets of its own. After the wealthy Molly Lasch is released from prison, her main purpose is to go on a quest to find the real killer with the help of a college friend who becomes a well-known reporter. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: Too boring to finish... Review: After reading many of Ms. Higgins' earlier books, I have to say this is the most disappointing of any of hers I've read so far. Virtually nothing happens and the characters too one-dimensional to make me care about any of them, though I kept trying! I always finish books I start, but I could not bring myself to get past the halfway point with this one, and ended up skipping to the last five pages to find out 'who did it'.
Rating: Summary: Simplistic Review: The plot was smplistic, the characters had no real depth to them and the outcome you knew immediately. As fan of this author I was disappointed . Her writing was not up to par on this one.
Rating: Summary: Vividly Explained and GREAT Ending! Review: As a reader of 'Mary Higgins Clark' books I found this one another one of her great stories. Although slow at first toward the end I could have SWORN it was a certain someone and not who it ended up to be. As someone who hates being given away the ending I dont think it was right (in the other reviews) to tell who the killer was. Great book and I really enjoyed it. Some others I REALLY recommend are 'Pretend You Dont See Her' 'You Belong to Me' and 'A Stranger Is Watching'...
Rating: Summary: Disappointed Review: I have ready all of Mary Higgins Clark's books and have enjoyed them. Not this one. I can normally finish her books in 2 days. I have been reading this one on and off for 2 weeks! It is extremely slow and boring. The characters are bland. It just doesn't grab you. It's like watching paint dry. Sorry Mary!
Rating: Summary: Bravo Mary! Review: I read this book and loved it. I have read all of Mary Higgins Clark's books. My mother introduced them to me and I have enjoyed all of them. I have read alot of reviews that this book wasn't good. Well I disagree. The book was awesome and I am looking forward to reading her next one. I also like that the books she writes are not full of sex and bad language.
Rating: Summary: First Time Meeting! Review: My first mystery reading since Nancy Drew! Chose it because the write-up on back cover mentioned it took place in Greenwich, CT, since we lived in that area for 13 years. Enjoyed the suspense, however I thought some of the facts were not substantiated, the acts were not possible, and I hope not many people have a friend like Jenna! Story had lots of good twists, revealed suspense, kept the interest in the "who-done-it" until the very end. Will read a few more of her books to compare. At least it got me hooked on searching out other mystery writers.
Rating: Summary: A "who cares" whodunit... Review: This book was a waste of trees. Clark spent more time describing the clothes her characters were wearing at any given moment rather than trying to develop their personalities. The storyline was quite like a vaudeville show, designed to make you hiss at the villains and sigh at the dramatic entrances of the wronged Connecticut socialite. Don't bother with this one.
Rating: Summary: Great Read! Review: I don't understand why so many readers did not enjoy this book. I thought it was great! One reviewer stated the fact that Molly had blood all over her wasn't explained. It was... as she remembers bits at a time she remembers trying to revive her husband. Yes, there are so many characters involved and so many twists that it can be difficult to remember who did what but in the end, all of the loose ends tie together. It could not have ended better...I was shocked to find who actually killed Gary. I had always felt that this authors' earlier books were the best and after a while I stopped reading the newer ones. In my opinion, this one reminded me of her older books, outstanding reads that are worth your time. Give it a try, judge for yourself.
Rating: Summary: We will NOT meet again Review: I have no idea how this story even made it to publication. Could this have been one of MHC's first stories, before she developed her ability to tell a GOOD story? Maybe she missed a deadline and had to turn in this abomination. This was the WORST MHC book I have ever read. I'll admit I have only read the first four (in high school), but I enjoyed them. A coworker let me borrow this book, and I thought it would be fun to read some mystery fluff. Boy, was I wrong. Not only were detailed elements omitted, and many things not explained, the characters were LAME! The whole idea of the hospital scam was not bad, it's just the characters did not seem deep enough to handle what was actually going on. There is no way these shallow characters would have survived in the "real" world. Molly was pathetic. Fran was ok. The bad guys were somewhat entertaining. The story as a whole just didn't seem to work. And WOW at all the coffee drinkers. EVERYONE drank coffee all the time. Molly would always have coffee AND juice(how many times did I read THAT). I wanted to scream, "Just have a soda! Lemonade! Anything different will do! " I'm ranting & raving over picky things, but perhaps the details became annoying because the storyline was not worth much. Also the story centered around wealthy people, but they were all so snooty! Even the characters you were supposed to like went overboard. It's like it was a crime to wear jeans! I don't know about the rest of the world, but casual to me is JEANS. Not "slacks and a silk blouse". I have no idea how/why I even finished this book. What happened Mary?
