Summary: strong legal thriller
Review: After driving to a deserted area at night to have sex, the two lovers see a naked girl hobbling toward them with a dog choker around her neck as used in sadomasochistic games. The victim is eighteen-year-old college student Amy Lynch, born with a silver spoon in her mouth. She lapses into a coma and is unable to tell the police who abducted her but the handcuffs she wore are traced to United States Federal District Judge Glenn Ballard.

An anonymous tip leads the police to the isolated cabin where Amy was held, a getaway that belongs to the upright and honorable Glenn Ballard. Glenn hires superstar defense attorney Jackie Flowers to represent him. Her job becomes even tougher when Ketamine is found in his medicine cabinet and a video shows him in the cabin with Amy. The judge insists he was framed so Jackie goes to court trying to prove her client's innocence, something she has a difficult time believing.

Stephanie Kane writes legal thrillers that are on a par with John Grisham and Scott Turow. The court room scenes are incredibly realistic, hard hitting and action-packed. EXTREME INDIFFERENCE gives the audience a good representation at how the justice system works with the legal in fighting between the prosecutor, the defense attorney and at times even the judge. The protagonist has overcome dyslexia to become a good defense attorney that readers will admire.

Summary: Extreme Indifference
Review: Anyone who likes legal thrillers or just thrillers has to read this. I have followed Kane and her heroine, Jackie Flowers, through Blind Spot, Quiet Time and now the latest. I can safely say that Kane started at a very high plane with Blind Spot and keeps getting better with each new book. This is the opposite from what I am accustomed to, which is either a one-book writer or a writer who writes the same book over and over. Kanes' work is fresh each time; it is unpredictable and it is exciting. Add to this the Jackie Flowers character, the quirky anti-heroine and her side-kick, Pilar, and, like me, you'll be anxiously awaiting the next book.

Summary: Made for Prime Time TV!!
Review: Extreme Indifference commands attention! It is fresh and spirited--I couldn't put it down. I found myself sneaking it into meetings and surreptitiously reading it when no one was looking. I felt like a kid hiding under the covers with a flashlight--long after my bedtime--trying to read one more chapter of a favorite story. I finally gave up, put everything aside, and finished it. And, what a finish it was--fooled me. I only hope it is picked up as a TV movie so that it gets the life it deserves. Brava Stephanie Kane!!

Summary: She's Got It Down
Review: Extreme Indifference is a real page-turner. The characters are well developed, the pace is lively, and the story has a great twist at the end. This is a very entertaining book./

Summary: An Extremely Fine New Thriller!
Review: Here's a riveting new book that will keep you right with it--even if you should have been asleep hours ago! Author Stephanie Kane has given us a complex and nuanced story with an unusual and fascinating perspective: successful attorney protagonist Jackie Flowers is dyslexic. Kane gives us a matter-of-fact approach to life with this condition woven very naturally into the fabric of the book, and in the process gives a unique view of Flower's mental prowess.
The story is the best part, though, and it's a well told, intelligent tale. There is plenty of suspense, frustration, and wonderment that is quite deftly resolved in the end. This is good writing: expect major goose bumps! Don't miss this one--but start it early in the evening so you won't have to put it down before it's over!

Summary: Finally - An Intelligent Crime Novel
Review: How refreshing to read a book that keeps you guessing until the end... which has characters who are incredibly well drawn, people with depth and sublety with whom you can identify. The story is original, complex and extraordinarily well written. Thank heaven there's a writer out there who assumes her readers graduated grade school! I love the layers that Kane peels away to reveal dyslexic Jackie Flowers' abilities.

Summary: A Win for Jackie Flowers, Again
Review: I first "met" Jackie Flowers in "Blind Spot," and looked forward to her further adventures in and out of the court. "Blind Indifference" is packed full of these adventures. It's a page-turner, and even careful readers will be surprised at the ending.

Onward to more of Jackie, a lawyer with gumption.

Summary: Daughter on Cover
Review: I read the book primarily because my daughter is the cover model. But - soon learned that the book was not about her but about the skill of Stephanie Kane as she weaves her crime story crafting Jackie Flowers, an ordinary woman with very real handicaps, as a very savvy attorney. More than the thriller part of the book, Jackie Flowers' character is human with everyday faults, and a woman who through years of learning to deal with adversity, surfaces as someone we'd like to know. Will read more Kane and more Flowers.

Summary: Kane's Best Yet!
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed Extreme Indifference. Kane keeps the plot and characters vivid and with so many turns in the book, I was again captivated until the very end. For anyone who enjoys the psychological thriller, Kane is a must read.

Summary: 5 Star Mystery Thriller with Great Characters!
Review: I'm a huge fan of Stephanie Kane and this is her best book yet! Stephanie Kane's books are so well-written and funny but what really sets them apart from other serial thrillers are the wonderful characters. They are all so multi-dimensional and interesting. Attorney Jackie Flowers has serious learning disabilities that have a profound effect on her everyday life. Driving across town or reading the newspaper are nearly impossible for Jackie. The interesting thing is that her incredible success as a criminal defense attorney is due to these 'weaknesses.' She is actually a much better attorney because she can't do things most people do every day without a second thought. Jackie's young neighbor, Lily, shares some of these same 'shortcomings' and their complex relationship is so compelling. I've never gotten wrapped up in characters in a book like these two. I wonder and worry about them long after I've finished the book! This is a great mystery and thriller and you'll love the characters!
