Review: This book was published as the Post Cold War world was becoming a fact of life. Certainly, the story of die-hards in the KGB wanting to hang on to the old ways isn't exactly new, but it still makes for compelling human drama. A variety of characters is introduced, each of them truly human, in their own ways as opposed to being cardboard characters that are to be knocked down or left standing when the shooting starts.
