Rating: Summary: Decent Review: Mindbend was a decent book to say the least. I found intriging until the last 100 pgs. I figured out what was going on. If you are reading it or plan ready it for bed time or a road trip.
Rating: Summary: I enjoyed the book!! This book was a compelling page turner! Review: Mindbend, I think, is an excellent example of the reality of the drug firms that strive only to make more profit rather than to provide customers with best quality and safe medication. I am indeed seeing more and more of this kind incident where there is too much risk in a drug in case of malfunctioning. I think that many of the drug companies are not responding to the complaints of those who have suffered from the harmful side-effects. Hopefully, this book will be a public warning for those drug companies with an intent of earning money rather than to give perfect cures.
Rating: Summary: readable Review: Quite a good book but not his best. The plot is predictable but Cook saves it by his style of writing.
Rating: Summary: Not very good Review: Robin Cook has written very good books. But he is not really consistent. A best selling author like Cook should be expected to control his writing better. But this novel is too obvious in its plot. After reading about fifty pages you can exactly imagine what will be next. And you can be pretty sure what kind of ending the story might have. Cook writes about a really burning problem of our time. But the plot is too improbable and implausible to cope with the seriousness of this problem. His afterword is better than the whole book. But the book is good when you are on a long flight, or perhaps when you are enjoying a lazy vacation. There is suspense after all.
Rating: Summary: Could've been a short story Review: The premise for this book is so simple that the average reader can figure out the entire story by about page 50. The author here has a nice idea, but it just doesn't go anywhere. I kept reading, hoping for a surprise, but it never happened. The ending was incredibly unfulfilling. No doubt about it, this book is a "tosser". In fact, I read it on an airplane, and toward the end of the flight, when the stewardess was collecting garbage, I tossed it right in. If you're looking for a high quality medical thriller, try one of Palmer's books - specifically Critical Judgment or Silent Treatment.
Rating: Summary: Just overwhelming! Review: This book has inpired me of the terrible Fact of the society. I would recommend this book to all employees of any drug companies.
Rating: Summary: GOOD BOOK, but not like the others Review: This is a good book, but not like the other books of his. From the beginning of this book you already know what is going to happen next. It doesn't have that much of a thrill, but it has a little suspense here and there. Nevertheless it is a good book to read. It tells you about doctors and them smoking and drinking at cruises and the mind altering substaces by drug companies. I recommend it, but not higly
Rating: Summary: Mindbend Review: This is a very good book, and I would recommend you read it because it has a lot of surprising twists to it, and is an overall interesting story. The main character, Adam Schonberg, and his wife, Jennifer, just found out they are going to have a baby. This book is narrated in the third person, which I think works really well with this story. I am personally having trouble relating to Adam, but hopefully a lot of you can. I haven't read any of Robert Cook's books before, but I really enjoyed this one.
Rating: Summary: Captivating Review: This was one of the, if not the most captivating novels that i have ever read. It kept you guessing, and when the truth was finally revealed, you have no choice but to say "oh my God!" I have read a few medical thrillers and this is a must read.
Rating: Summary: Great story! Review: Yes I realize this story is far-fetched, but I enjoyed it anyway. The characters were interesting, the plot moves along swiftly and there's never a dull moment. My only disappointment with this book was that you're not told what ultimately happens to the men from Arolen. Other than that it's a great read.
