Summary: A BRILLIANT BOOK
Review: This book was so very much what I like, it was if the author had written it especially for me!

For anyone contemplating reading it I can tell you it is incredibly exciting, the characters are well developed, it's pacey and gritty and I read it while in the throes of moving house!

I actually found it believable in several respects - how many of us on a dull Monday morning wish we could be whisked off our feet by a gorgeous stranger? Isn't this sort of what we do on a holiday romance, take a risk, go with our instincts rather than our brains. This is what many of us dream about, that adrenaline rush when we meet someone new and attractive! This is a story of 'what-if' - what if we actually did take that risk. To me, this story is very emotional and very human.

Summary: do you know who you're married to!
Review: Pacy thriller of a woman who meets 'tall dark and handsome' on the street one day who changes her life forever. Adam offers her love, passion and excitement and she accepts, leaving her boyfriend and group of friends for the stranger.

Before she knows it, she has married him. As his wife she decides to discover his past, through his friends as Adam clearly lives 'in the now'.

The more she finds out about Adam's past the more it seems that he has good reasons to avoid it!

Summary: A Posessing Novel of Obsession
Review: I got this book for Christmas, and let me tell you, it was different from any other book I've ever read. I read a section of it in a past issue of Cosmopolitan magazine; that's how I heard about it. The article in the magazine left me wondering and wanting to read more. So, I bought it. It is very well written, but quite disturbing. The main female character (sorry, I don't remember the characters' names!) has an affair with a man she has a chance meeting with. They pass on the street one day, and without hardly any words, they go to his apartment for an afternoon of mind-altering, life-changing sex. The man gets so deep into her mind and thoughts; just the thought of him is with her every waking moment of the day. Things take a bad turn, however...--I'm not going to give it away, though! You have to read it to find out! It became difficult to tell who was obsessed with whom toward the end: Adam (the mysterious man she met on the street-I remembered his name!) must have her by his side every waking moment. But, she is also constantly thinking of him. (The third side of the obsession question is the reader. Is it called a novel of obsession because the reader gets so into the story that he or she can not force themselves to put the book down? Hmmmm...) There are some very disturbing parts in this book--for example, some descriptions of domestic violence--that I did not find enjoyable, to be honest. Other than those few choice parts, this was a very good book. I could hardly put it down, once I picked it up! Is this a tale of true love, lust, or just a passionate affair with a total stranger? You'll have to be the judge of that. Enjoy!

Summary: One of the best books I've ever read!
Review: This was one of the best books I've ever read. I couldn't put it down until I finished it! The story completey sucked me in, at times I felt so in tune with Alice that it was errie! The character of Adam was so well written that I didn't know whether to love or hate him. It's a very powerful book and I recommende buying it, because you'll want to read it again and again!

Summary: A TRULY ENGAGING READ!
Review: If you have ever loved someone with your entire being and then discovered they were not who you thought they were you will relate to this book. I couldn't put it down and read it in one day. Her characters were extremely believable, likable and real enough to grieve for. A wonderful read that isn't easily classified as mystery or fiction. Drama is the best category for this book. A great read on a winter night by the fire with a cup of herbal tea...

Summary: Intricate, different plot
Review: An romantic, mysterious book which was intriguing and everyone who read it did so in one day! Great book. Different, yet really a great read. I hope the couple who wrote it writes many more books.

Summary: Unlikeable characters, contrived plot
Review: Read the book in one sitting. Wanted to get to the end to find out what happened, but also to have it over with. Character development woefully inadequate. The characters' motivations were never explained in any way. The male character was like a cardboard cut out. The sexual violence as described by the female protagonist left me with a queasy feeling. I bought this book because of several 5 star reviews listed on this site, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I'm truly amazed that anyone would ever want to re-read this book.

Summary: I will not read another book by Nicci French
Review: Boring, Boring, Boring...It was hard to get past the roughsex. You want to shake this girl and tell her to WAKE UP! I alsodon't understand how she kept her job in the midst of all this trauma in her life. She never seemed to stay at work all day. In the real world, we would all be fired!
