Summary: Nice break from the life of a singleton
Review: I wasn't sure what to expect when I picked up this book, but I really enjoyed it! I thought the main character was absolutely hilarious, but it wasn't very comforting to know that a mother could be so unorganized and mentally disconnected from her family. A lot of the time, it seemed as though the daughter was raising herself! Maybe I just come from a sheltered life, but it was a little disturbing to see that.

Summary: Very Sexy and Funny
Review: The main attraction of the story is about the clumsy wife with the good humour and hilarious word choice and a particularly wild imagination. Although I think the interraction between Delilah and Ford is not shown enough in the book, it actually makes me pay extra attention when they do actually interract for real. (as in not in fantasies!)

Call me weird, but I'm one of those people who hate guessing at an ending, however~! Ok, I know, the ending was pretty much pointing towards something, and I'm definitely not saying it's badly written, but still I'd like a definite thing where their future is almost definite, certain. I'm one of those people who love a happy ending just to polish things off....

This book was humorous and interesting, and makes me want to check out her other works, even though I've just learnt that she hadn't written a whole lot of novels yet. Anyhow, enjoy the read!

Summary: A closet full of secrets
Review: This book started off surprisingly funny and then spiraled out of control into a convoluted and unrealistic ending.

I give it two stars. One star for the first half of the book: Delilah Levine is a wife, mother and freelance soap opera writer. Delilah's relationship with her husband, Jason, has become increasingly strained and at first the cause appears to be Delilah's lack of housekeeping skills and her scatter-brained behavior on top of stress from her Jason's job. We see all the classic symptoms of marital distress and external pressures - husband irritable and disinterested in sex; frequent arguments; pressure on Delilah from other mommies and her daughter's principal to conform to NYC societies expectations; Delilah's frequent sexual fantasies about the handsome plumber.

The second star is for the sections of humor that had me laughing out loud. Ms. Kwitney has a knack for making humorous jabs at the ridiculousness of everyday life, of marriage, of outside pressures to 'fit in' with what's expected.

But, nearly every chapter begins with one of Delilah's plumber fantasies, all in italics, which have little to do with the plot, except to establish her distraction over the plumber.

Without giving away the plot, this story began as a humorous tale of a marriage on the brink of dissolution and quickly became a fantastical farce that left me wondering what in the world was the point?

Summary: Feminist take on THE SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY
Review: This smart, entertaining, sexy and funny novel features a heroine I was really able to identify with--a dissatisfied wife and harried mother with a career that hasn't quite taken off, who
is struggling to get the pieces of her life to work better. For
relief, excitement and escape, Delilah Levine turns to her imagination: she regularly distracts herself with a variety of romantic and erotic fantasy adventures (and these are hot as well as perfect send-ups of a dozen different genres of fiction.)
It's a female version of WALTER MITTY, and a page turner!

Summary: What a waste of time!!!!!!!!!
Review: True to my word, I tried to give the author the benefit of the doubt and finished reading this horrifically choppy and unbelievable book. How on earth could anyone give this drivel even one star????? Are my fellow readers/reviewers under the influence of "biosensual" and their minds have turned to mush???

A combination of irrelevant fantasy banter at the beginning of each chapter plus the ridiculous plot and character development makes this book a chore to read. (Call me crazy, but FBI agents would never carry on that way and disclose their identities during a sting much less seduce their subjects!) The story plot was absolutely ridiculous and the editing a hindsight.

For example, I noticed a typo that was not caught by the editors as "truthful" was written "trothful". I'm truly surprised no one caught on to the major mistake on page 287 of the paperback edition where Delilah refers to her daughter as "Sophie" when it should be Sadie!!! How do people not notice these things? Not only am I baffled as to how this book was ever published, but I am equally baffled as to how the editors keep their jobs as they obviously AREN'T doing them! Perhaps this book was so boring to the editors that they simply skipped it over and didn't look out for such mistakes.

They say one should never judge a book by it's cover and I have found that's true. By the look of the sassy front cover, I thought this book may be on par with writers such as Marianne Keyes or Sophie Kinsella for example. Boy was I wrong. The cover may look charming, but the tale is not.

Summary: sassy fun and candy for the mind
Review: witty, very funny & sometimes wise, the book addresses the questions of: who have I become with husband and children? and do I recognize this person? women who have been avoiding the question of what has happened to them, or men who would like to know what their women think of them, would do well to read this book. The plot twists after page 163 stretch your ability to suspend disbelief, but on the whole, it is worthwhile. It is mind candy that provokes thought with laughter, what could be better than that? And please, really, don't judge the book by that awful cover!
