Summary: needs more than 5 stars
Review: Ted Dekker has the ability to take Christians out of their comfort zone. Is that a bad thing? No. As a Christian, God calls people to do so with talents such as writing Christian fiction. I read this book pretty quickly. You don't read a Ted Dekker book and say it's boring. If you do, you are a very tough customer and cannot be pleased. I can go as far as to say that this book will even play with your mind a little bit. Maybe even more. I have everything Ted Dekker owns. When an author such as Frank Peretti can make a recommendation on certain books, you know it's a good book. You don't even ask questions. If you are looking for a milk and cookies book, then don't read this. If you are looking for a read that will challenge you, make you nervous and make you think, then read this book. Ted Dekker gets his work from The Lord, and it shows in everything he does. Any more questions, just buy one of his books. Start with THR3E.

Summary: Ditto's to All the Other Reviewers - This is Excellent
Review: So far, pretty much everyone who has reviewed this has extolled it's greatness and when I read it I had to agree. It's a great mystery/crime drama, but it's greatest feature is the character study of Kevin, the protagonist. If you can resist the temptatin to turn to the end to see what happens you will find a conclusion you never would have imagined in the first half of the book.
Also, this book deals with a profound theological issue, but if I go into too much detail I will give away too much of the plot. Let me suggest that you read this in light of chapter 7, of the book of Romans, if you have access to a Bible.
For those who are tired of the same formulaic Christian writing this one does break the mold. Kevin, the protagonist is no super saint, and the author doesn't rely on the typical pat answers and simplistic formulas in the resolution of the dilemma.
This one is definitely worth the time and sleep you may lose!

Summary: Losing Sleep
Review: Ted Dekker's newest book ensured me as a fan of his until he stops providing the world with incredible thrillers. "Three" is a fantastic suspense that does nothing but impress. It insantly became my favorite novel. Dekker combines nail-biting suspense as well as biblical principle that not only quickens the pulse, but also conveys a deep message of Truth. Never before did I lose so much sleep, take too many extra-long breaks at work, and tell so many people about one novel. From cover to cover "Three" is compelling, frightening, and mind-blowing. Do not miss out on a chance to get on this thrill ride. "Three" is bound to draw in many, many new Dekker fans.

Summary: Best Psychological Thriller Yet Written
Review: Every so often, I'll read a book and tell someone, 'Wow. This would make a great movie.' Ted Dekker's Blink was that kind of book.

But once in a very great while, I'll read a book and realize something even better: there is no way this could ever be a movie. Why? Not because it's not exciting, but because it's such a clear illustration of the power of the written word. There are things that can be done with the written word that no movie could ever accomplish. That's one of the highest praises I can give to a book.

THR3E is such a book.

In some ways, I feel inadequate to review this book. It demands a second reading. The conclusion to the story is so twisted, so mind-blowing, that it throws every single scene in the book into a new light.

THR3E combines the 'pursuit' aspects of Blink with the most intense psychological thriller imaginable and the absolute tension of a fast-paced, desperate hunt for a madman. Do not start reading this book unless you're ready to keep reading. THR3E doesn't just pull you in ' it puts a time bomb under your chair and demands that you keep reading or else.

No room here for a review that does it justice.<...

Summary: THR3E -- Unbelievable!!!
Review: What an unexpected mystery written with such excellence and skill. I couldn't put the book down -- literally! The excitement grew with each chapter. There was never a literary pause, no dull moments; but rather, this book steam rolled with high action and suspense through each chapter -- all the way to the ending! I am still reeling from the climax, and it's been three days since I finished reading this novel. The imagery was so fantastically good, making the book play out as a high suspense movie. Ted Dekker certainly is an author whose books I will keep purchasing. I will re-read THR3E again!

Summary: Absolutely Awesome! WoW!!
Review: What a book!! Ted Dekker's ultra-suspenseful novel THR3E is an adrenaline rush from start to finish! Like all Ted Dekker books, this one pulls off that most difficult and rare feat: The presentation of deep spiritual insight through a story full of action and adventure. Once you start reading it, THR3E will make you bite your finger nails and miss sleep. What can I say? You've really got to try this book out.

Summary: A Watershed for Christian fiction
Review: With Ted Dekker's new novel, THR3E, we see a clear dividing line in Christian world-view fiction: Everything that came before, and now THR3E. With the release of this one genre-defining novel, the game has changed. Finally, we have something that can compete with--and even surpass--the very finest of the general market action/suspense/thriller books.

It's been a long time coming, but it's finally here. And Mr. Dekker has undergone quite an apprenticeship leading up to THR3E--from Heaven's Wager through Blink, six books, with each successive one being better than the last. It helps that he started at quite a high level. It also helps that he's completely dedicated to his craft, to honing his chops, to learning everything he can, to always striving to become a better writer.

I have waited more than three decades for this to happen--for a writer of commercial fiction to arise from the Christian subculture and write something that everybody, no matter who they are, can rejoice about. Let me tell you, this is the real deal. I'm not going to say anything about the story because it's best if you encounter it totally on your own, without any clues about what's going on.

Gets my vote for the best book of 2003, and maybe of the new millennium.

Summary: I'll Give You 3 Guesses...
Review: 1) What thriller will snag you by the throat this summer?

I suggest it will be "Thr3e." This book starts with a literal bang and only lets up long enough for you to catch your breath before the next harrowing twist. The story follows Kevin, a seminary student, who wrestles with the concepts of good and evil. Before he can face his inner self, he finds himself taunted by a ruthless killer who gives him three minutes to confess his sin. What sin? Kevin soon realizes that this game is deadly and very real. He must face his own dark secrets if he is to have a hope of surviving.

2) What author will rock your reading world this summer?

Easy. Ted Dekker is the obvious answer. In this latest of his, he surpasses his other books for sheer narrative force. With a seemingly simple idea, he takes you on a rollercoaster that will leave your head spinning by the end. This high-speed thrill-ride left me smiling in begrudging amusement at his clever plot twists. Each time I thought I knew where the story was headed, it took another turn. If you think the ride begins to slow down, then hold on...It's about to whip you through another loop. Along the way, Dekker paints a grim and realistic portrayal of a disturbed young man and his repressive past.

3) What storyline gains philosophical power with each twist of the plot?

This novel is one of those rarities, a book that thrills while also causing you to examine deeply your views of good and evil, right and wrong, and the effects of morality on us all. For a book that delivers everything a good thriller should, and more, you have to pick up this book. I read it in two sittings, and I'm buying copies for my friends.

Summary: Worth more than THR3E stars!
Review: For the last 30+ years of my life, I have never really given Christian fiction much of a thought. There was no interest on my end to really read these books. The "Left Behind" series changed all of that. I have found reading to be very enjoyable and now look for great Christian fiction to read.

The first book I opted to read was "Thr3e" by Ted Dekker. Having never heard of him before, I did not know what to expect. But the book cover looked like it would be a good read, and it most certainly was.

The book centers around Kevin Parsons, a 28 year old seminary student who has spent the last 5 years trying to put the past behind him. And just when he thinks he has, someone from that very past comes back to haunt him. But this mysterious person doesn't want Kevin to just merely relive it, he wants Kevin to confess it. But of everything from Kevin's past, he doesn't know what it is that this lunatic wants him to confess. Naturally, the fact that this madman has a bad tendency to blow things up when Kevin either can't solve his riddles or gets the cops involved doesn't really help Kevin's concentration much.

There are very few places in this book where you can safely put the book down for awhile. Once you begin, the suspense will reel you in. Ted Dekker gracefully takes you for a ride that has more hills, loops, and corkscrews than the local amusement park.

If you have never heard of Ted Dekker, like me, "Thr3e" is a great book to get to know him with.

Summary: Exciting suspense, but...
Review: I bought this book because of the rave reviews by other readers, so my expectations were very high. I read many kinds of books. Christian fiction is something I especially enjoy when it is well written and leaves me with a good feeling and message when I've read the last page. That was not the case with Three. I don't like to say negative things about a book--especially one that so many other readers have loved--but since it was those reviews that got me to read the book, I feel I must share my own reaction. First, the good stuff. Certainly the main character, Kevin, came to life on the pages. The plot was exciting and suspenseful, and I'll admit I found it hard to put down. I was impressed not only with the author's writing ability, but also with the unique and very surprising ending. If I had been purposefully looking for a book that would scare me with the evil of the antagonist, keep me on the edge of my seat throughout, and catch me offguard with the ending, then I guess I'd be writing how great I found this book. If this book had been classified as "horror" and written by Koontz or King, I would have thought, yep, that's typical of their stuff. But I was looking for a Christian novel. The main character was a student in what was apparently an Episcopal seminary. Other than that, I saw nothing Christian in the book. I found it horrific and twisted--DEFINITELY not edifying or uplifting in any conceivable way. The only "message" if left me with was how sick a mind can get. I can contrast this unpleasant reaction with how I felt after reading some other Christian fiction, such as that of great authors like Alan Gansky and Randy Alcorn. When I finished Alcorn's books "Deadline," "Dominion," and "Safely Home," I was blown away by the message and the writing. I could see where these books might convert the hardest heart who would read them. In sharp contrast, Three is a horror/suspense novel, and to be honest, I found it distasteful. I gave it 3 stars because of the writer's talent.
