Summary: One of the Best
Review: I am an avid reader, and I specialize in Christian fiction. Ted Dekker has now, officially, moved into the elitist class with the great Frank Peretti with this novel. It is, without question, one of the best books I have ever read, and I spent 12 years teaching literature! I can usually "figure out" the direction of a suspense or mystery novel fairly quickly into the storyline, but I must say, Dekker kept me in suspense with Thr3e throughout the book. It wasn't until all was revealed that I really had a clue. I simply could not put the book down, which up until recently I could only say for novels by the aforementioned Peretti and Sigmund Brouwer. Dekker has now moved to the top of my list, and while all his previous books, from Heaven's Wager to Blink, are great, in my opinion, this is his best work. I can hardly wait for the trilogy he is releasing in 2004 called simply "Black", scheduled for release on Feb. 11, "Red", due in May, and finally "White", arriving in September. I offer this book my highest possible recommendation.

Summary: I think it's safe to say we've all found a new favorite book
Review: WOAH! I never saw it coming when I picked up this book and read the inside cover. I finished reading THR3E two hours ago. This is the most spectacular book I've ever read. Three...the number three, you think it's an important detail, but you're only hanging by a string because in the end, and then you realize that three is truly the answer. I don't care how much you think, how outrageous your hypothesis is, or how far you read into the clues, you will never, ever, guess the ending of this book until you read it. A word of advice: everything you believe throughout the book's plot: you're wrong. The book's resolve and mind blowing concepts creeped into my mind and I'm still shivering. This book makes other books seem dissapointing, it's THAT amazing. Ted Dekker must be a genius, and I don't know how he wrote this novel without going insane in the process, because I think I might be crazy after reading it.
This book is what fiction, suspense, thrill, and an adrenaline rush is all about. If you haven't read THR3E you haven't read anything yet.

Summary: Yummy!
Review: This was an exceptional book - but unfortunately I guessed the premise within a few chapters. Of course this is probably due to the fact that I just watched "Identity" the week before...

Dekker is a long time fave of mine and his writing just keeps getting better! Someone mentioned that the book does not focus much on Christianity. This is true. This book was an excellent thriller and slightly philosophical, but it is not in any way "Christian" - so if you are thinking it will be like BLACK or THUNDER OF HEAVEN, you will be dissapointed. There is mention of religion, of good and evil, right and wrong, and the battle between them. But there is no emphasis on Christian determinism, which for some is good, and for others a dissapointment. However, it does make it easy to recommend this book to friends who are non-believers, as it stirs up moral questions but does not threaten.

The writing is fast-paced, the story well-plotted, and the conclusion is a shocker! Enjoy!

Summary: Beyond Belief
Review: You know that part of the book - every avid reader knows it - the page where things really kick off and you can't stop reading cause you just HAVE to know what happens next? In this latest thriller from Ted Dekker that happens on page 12. Yeah, you read that right, page 12, and there's still hundreds of pages to go.

Other reviews comment that they flew through this novel in just a few days, etc. I read it in no less than 4 hours. Almost all in one sitting.
(I had to take a break to go to church).

Imagine a world where ABSOLUTELY nothing is what it seems. A world where even craft-masters M. Night Shyamalan and Alfred Hitchcock couldn't predict what's around the next bend. Kevin is a Seminary student with a big problem - he's being stalked by a madman who knows too much - more than even Kevin, at times. As he is forced to deal with the past he fought so hard to escape, Kevin wonders the whole time if he can truly find freedom, even with the help of an old friend and an FBI agent running from demons of her own.

Even if you think you know, you still have NO idea.

One of the things I really liked about Three was its multiple layers. It was so well-written that, even though the answer to the whole story was presented at the beginning, it was not obvious until it smacked you in the face at the end.

Pick this one up today - assuming you have a few hours free...

And don't miss Ted's next book, Volume 1 of Trilogy, BLACK, out in January 2004.

Summary: THR3E by Ted Dekker
Review: I have just discovered Ted Dekker's books this summer and they are the highlight of my entire summer. He writes in a gripping fashion, an edge of your seat kind of thrilling adventure that puts you in the mind of the characters. THR3E was a book that I couldn't put down and long after I was done reading it -- I am still thinking about it. I never expected the ending at all.
Ted Dekker's books have a way of making you THINK about day to day life. They are Christian based in a real world of today. They are very THOUGHT PROVOKING books that grip you and don't release you even after they are finished. There are subtle "lessons" in his books that everyone should read.
Amazing. Words just can't describe how good these books are. I will recommend that EVERYONE read his books.

Summary: For thinkers only
Review: There are exactly 100 reviews for this book before mine. Fewer than 5 are less than 4 stars and most, like me, agree that this book is exceptional. What does that say about the others? It's amazing to me that anyone would not like this book except for one reason, and that is they don't like the premise the author uses for theological reasons.

I, on the other hand, think it's perfect for the story. Unconventional, yes, but that is even better. A must read for any thinker who is open minded. Would make the perfect movie!

Summary: Huge disappointment
Review: I'm a Ted Dekker fan. "Blink" is a great read, and I enjoyed "Heaven's Wager" as well. I started reading "Thr3e" with high expectations -- and was utterly disappointed with this lame effort from Dekker. I felt compelled to write, if only to refute the puzzling rave reviews I've read here at Amazon.com about this book.
Early on in the book, I guessed where the ending was headed. I hoped I was wrong, but unfortunately I was right. It's a plot ending so implausible, so disappointing, so darn stupid it's hard to put into words. I won't go into detail, but believe me -- it's an ending fit for a cheesy late night cable TV movie. My brother, mom and a good friend all read this book too -- we all had the exact same reaction to the ending.
Read "Blink" if you want to read a great Dekker novel, with some interesting Christian theology tossed in for good measure. I can't stop you from reading "Thr3e." But please check it out of the library -- don't waste good money on this dreadful tale.

Summary: Don't bother.
Review: I don't want to write a spoiler review. And without giving away the plot totally, I can't say very coherently exactly what I didn't like about this book. But I do feel the author cheated. Instead of concentrating, as I expected from the blurb and the other reviews, on the issue of being forced to face one's greatest sin, in public, the book sank into cheap psychological nonsense that had nothing particularly Christian about it, in spite of the tacked on sermons of the hero's friend who was a pastor, close to the end. The author writes in a way that keeps you turning pages, if you like thrillers; it is just that the premise of the book is fundamentally flawed. And worse, disappointingly boring. I won't read another Ted Dekker book.

Summary: twisted and good
Review: Ted Dekker knows how to write a so called "page-turner" book. This was the first book by Ted Dekker I have ever read. And it is also now my favorite book ever. Reading this fun, twisted, and exciting book has encouraged me to track down other books by Ted Dekker. This book is about a man named Kevin who gets a phone call from a guy named Slater. Slater tells him he has 3mins. to confess his sin,or his car will blow up. Kevin tries to do the right thing before something or some one gets hurt. If you don't like long books this book goes by in a quick flash. The ending is definitly worth the wait!
