Rating: Summary: GREAT DEBUT NOVEL Review: It seems like because Heather Lowell is the daughter of Elisabeth Lowell, the critics think she should be judged by a different standard than other new writers.I loved this book! Claire is a strong independent woman, who does not need a guy to rescue her, and can go toe to toe with Sean Richter (OOOH) who is the dectective in the case. After witnessing a murder, she gets amnesia, and that is where the predictible plot ends. This woman has good friends, with a strong female relationship and history. She does not need Sean, but they do complement each other. When they take a pro active way to find the killer, and she starts dating these guys from the Camelot dating service to see if one of them could be the killer, there are some great moments. Because the killer is never introduced, you can not guess who he is. HL does a good job w/the suspense. You want to finish the book, and Claire has a lot of fight scenes herself. You really root for her. To me the romance was good, but it was a side story. It is integral, but I liked the characters so much that the story did not hinge on that. I would purchase this book immediatly if you are a fan or romantic suspense. This is up there w/Iris Johanson (w/out the conspiracy theories) If you like Helen Myers, and Kay Hooper you will like this, it does not focus on the people themselves so much like a Nora. Very good, can not wait for her next novel. Hope it is Sean's partner Aidan's story. Really liked him, he seems like he could have some real depth and seriousness beneath his easy going exterior.
Rating: Summary: Good book for the beach Review: It's an interesting, easy read for the summer and a good first novel for Ms. Lowell. A theasaurus might come in handy for synonoms (taut, for example, is extremely overused). Still, it's a fun book and I look forward to her next one.
Rating: Summary: Bravo! A Good First Effort By Heather Lowell Review: Marie Claire Lambert, a 30 year old career woman living in Washington, DC, is too busy to find a good man, let alone a good date. She is persuaded to sign-up for her friend Afton's dating service one evening, with the hope of finding a solution to this all too common problem. Walking to catch her bus, late that same night, Claire surprises a murderer. Terrified, she watches him stab his victim to death, and when she tries to flee the scene, he grabs her. She sprays him with pepper and escapes, running for her life. The murderer attempts to catch her, but fails when Claire runs into a late night club, where she falls down the stairs at the entrance and is knocked unconscious. Heather Lowell's first novel is a suspenseful romance that absorbs the reader from the very beginning. Through the plot is predictable, with only two primary characters, (and two or three secondary characters), the novel reads well, and the author shows promise. Neither the storyline nor the characters are very complex, but there is an endearing loyalty between Marie Claire and her childhood friend, Olivia. Detective Sean Richter makes a sexy, Alpha Male love interest, as he tries to protect Claire from the serial killer who is determined to make her next on his list. Although there are many, many Detective Richter types in the genre, the chemistry between the two is explosive. And the repartee between Richter and his cousin/sidekick Aidan Burke is fun and amusing. I certainly wish Ms. Lowell the best of luck with her writing career. I am a big fan of her mother's, author Elizabeth Lowell. I hope Heather will continue to develop a strong and unique style of her own. JANA
Rating: Summary: In a Word:Tedious Review: Maybe the expectations were too high. Readers of her mom: warning: this book is tedious. The book is too long (tedious) ; the characters uninteresting, leaving the reader uncaring; and the dialogue is tedious. Chapter headings give locales, but too many times these are unnecessary. The plot is flat, maybe because the characters are. The love scenes are boring (tedious). There are no surprises or unexpected happenings. A really good editor could have pealed this huge volume down to reveal a semi-interesting novel, not more than a Silhouette in length. Hope springs eternal, so maybe her second (if there is one) will be better.
Rating: Summary: I couldn't put this book down! Review: Thank goodness that I was on vacation when I started this book, because it is a page-turner! In the style of romance/thriller writer, Linda Howard, this is a steamy, action-filled plot. I anxiously await her second novel!
Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: This is a GREAT book, especially seeing as how it is Heather's first book. Great suspense, wonderful romance. I expected Heather's writing to be similar to her mom's (Elizabeth Lowell (a.k.a. Ann Maxwell), and was shocked at how different her writing is. You will not be disappointed. I can't wait for the next book. Thanks Heather for the wonderful book.
Rating: Summary: "Oh God, Oh God Where should I go" Review: Well back to traveling maybe. This was as lame as a book can be. Its amazing you have to read it all because its so awful & how could such junk could get published. Marie Claire or "such sweet prey" as the killer stated was sycharine & sickening" Save yourself & weather the storm or just go out & buy an umbrella. Insomnia fodder.
Rating: Summary: super romantic suspense Review: With her first book, "When The Storm Breaks", Heather Lowell has written a stunning story of murder and obsession. Claire Lambert, on her way home from an appointment at a dating service happens upon a murder being committed. While fleeing from the savage attack Claire herself is injured when she slips down any icy staircase. While in the hospital Claire learns that she is the only witness to a possible serial slaying, but her injury though not severe causes traumatic amnesia. None the less, she finds herself embroiled in a murder investigation and the target of a relentless killer. Sean Richter, the detective assigned to the case must find the killer before he gets to Claire. His attraction to his only witness may prevent Sean from being as professional as he'd like but he'll risk anything to protect this woman. This is one hot summer read.

Rating: Summary: What a great first attempt! Review: Wow, I wish all authors could come out of the gate with this kind of debut! This is my FIRST EVER review; I was so impressed with this book, I just had to talk about it. If you're into police heroes and strong heroines, then this is the book for you. I found it alternately scary and funny, especially when Claire is going on her "dates". I felt my heart pounding at the end, and let me tell you, it's been a long time since a book has given me that effect. Can't wait for more from this amazingly talented newcomer!
